At the time of writing this I am half way through an undergraduate psychology degree. Until recently I wanted to be a councillor but I’ve always struggled with the idea of a desk job. I have only thought of the Navy in the past month or so. I now have plans of being a mental health nurse. No where near ready to try for the selection process but I intend to use the last two years of my psychology course to train in fitness and direct my extra learning towards Naval life. Thanks for this video. Like I said I am no where near the interview yet but you’ve helped me to cement my goal of joining. I found I could answer many of the questions thoroughly and I’m now confident that it’s a good choice for me. Thank you.

I went for my Royal Navy recruitment interview in 1968. I was met by a Chief Petty Officer who sat me down, gave me two sheets of paper. One was a basic maths test, the other an English test (I had to write a few sentences). Before I'd finished writing my sentences he asked me to spell beautiful. I did so - correctly. He then asked me to nip out and buy him a packet of Woodbine cigarettes, waving aside my concerns that I'd not finished writing my sentences with a reassurance that I'd receive a pass. This must be the reason for, at that time, the phenomenal pass rate. Presumably, those who failed couldn't find a tobacconist! However, at HMS Ganges (gruelling) training establishment one was required to pass NAMET (Navy, Army maths and English test) in order to proceed into the wider Royal Navy world. I did! RNF122 (HMS Gurkha) rather gives that away.
@CareerVidz4 жыл бұрын
WOODBINES! I remember them :)
@Fin2001 Жыл бұрын
Other things worth mentioning is to know what training you will undertake, both at HMS Raleigh/BRNC and the professional training you will undertake subsequently. I felt confident in other areas (i.e. what is already mentioned here), but I hadn't familiarised myself enough with respect to the training I would go through and it really caught me out. Likewise, know what your daily duties and responsibilities are for your chosen role.

That was actually one of my main concerns going into it, my examples of leadership, but he asked me about two mas long as you have a couple. Management in retail would be fine. Use an example from management of your team in retail, pertaining to a new project that you were in charge of, a new initiative, that kind of thing. The main part is seeing what task you had to do, what happened and the actions you took even if they weren't the best, as long as you explain after that you realised you made a mistake and offer as part of the STARL analysis lessons that you learnt from it it will be fine.

@alfiewilson95913 жыл бұрын
@@benmclauchlan7020 they asked most of them, make sure you know about the job your going into as stupid as it sounds. I got asked a lot about where my professional training is, what it will consist of, the duration and what I’m expected to do in my job. I also got asked a lot about my training regime and how I’m coping with the current situation. Overall it’s just like a normal conversation, don’t stress it and you’ll be fine. Good luck 👍🏼

My reasons for choosing the navy is: 1) a life at sea is second to none 2) Royal navy's heritage is second to none 3) its the parent of all other UK armed forces 4) is the biggest factor in the safety and security of UK home and abroad in my opinion 5) is known to be deployed frequently to better places then the other branches of the military 5

Just wanted to leave some feedback, this video really gives you a good idea of what there going to ask you in the interview. I passed my interview today. I have been in sea cadets for 5 years and I did a little CV of all the achievements and qualifications I have from cadets, I emailed it to my recruitment officer, and this gave him a good idea of what I’m like as a character As I’m only 16 and the CV really helped me and my recruitment officer didn’t have to ask me as many questions as he knows i know what I’m letting myself in for joining the navy ETC. I hope this has made sense to people, and if you have been in cadets I think it would be a really good idea to make a little CV like I did and send it to your recruitment officer.

I am 15 I am wanting to join the navy for engineering and I have always wanted to help people and travel around the world and during this COVID it is horrible with these GCSEs but with that I have a dad who was in the raf and I know what it’s like living in military and I wanted to try something a bit different so I picked the navy so when I finish my GCSE’s I want to join the navy at 16 and become and Weapon engineer

Thanks... Try these: Q. What does the role of a chef in the Royal Navy involve? Q. Why do you want this job and what qualities can you bring to the role? Q. Explain what a typical working day as a Royal Navy chef involves? Q. When have you worked as part of a team? Q. When have you worked unsociable hours and been flexible? Q. What training will you undergo as a chef? Q. Which ships are you likely to serve on? Q. What do you know about the history of the Royal Navy? Q. How long do you plan on staying in the Royal Navy for? Q. What are the key requirements of the role? Q. When have you followed strict rules and procedures? Q. What do you do in your spare time? Good luck! Richard
