🎼♥️. "Strings & Things" truly ovely tries....all three of them * * * ~🍃☘ 🎸☘🍃~.... hasn't changed both/and * * * so which one? YES !! 😎 ~ in whatever mysteriously unchartered wild & crazy direction(s) the Holy Spirit may lead.... perhaps a needed way of making all things new in each of our three lives -- Both individually And collectively.... will it take faith, trust, and courage from each of us? pretty sure that's a rather silly question for us to bee asking, now isn't it?

I am a huge R.E.M. fan and a professional cellist. This arrangement, while executed by fine musicians, makes me sick. It is vapid and empty. The spirit in Michael’s singing and the song overall is just plain missing. Whoever orchestrated this arrangement-seriously-a flute? For fucks sake. And here, Ladies and Gentlemen, is a prime example of why people don’t listen to classical music.

I have to agree. Can't stand this arrangement - as someone else observed it feels 'sprightly', which is a million miles away from what it should be. By the end all I could hear was that infernal triangle. For me the spirit of this piece is all about yearning, nostalgia, longing for lost innocence, sweet memories tinged with sadness. I guess it's the sublime lyrics and Michael's voice that make it a truly great song. Take those elements away - I think it may still be possible to make this a great orchestral piece, but this ain't it.

I hate this arrangement. It has a sort of sprightly feel (sorry I don't know correct music terms, more staccato maybe?) whereas the original was languid, the notes melting into each other, evoking summer in the South

I know where you're coming from. But I'd suggest opening up to appreciating the melody / theme as haven been repurposed to engender feelings / thoughts that that appose, or even compliment the original. I try to liken it to a main 'theme' on a movie score.
