I once had the pleasure of meeting them both while traveling through Europe when I was young. I never forgot them. May King Constantine Rest In Peace. Hence, for Queen Anne-Marie, I am praying for you and your family, earth has nor sorrow that heaven can not heal.

King Constantine and Queen Anne Marie are two of my favorite European royals. I would love to have to have the chance just to talk to both of them.. I think I'm drawn to Queen Anne Marie because she's so close in age to my late mother, I believe she's only a couple weeks younger than my mom. And no I am not caucasian and neither was my mom.

He is not King at all. A referendum was held to disown him. Please take his title away. If you don't it is a violation of democracy and disrespect to the will of the Greek people.

You mention hemophilia, but that was with Victoria's daughter in Russia and her son. King George III (d 1820) had a blood disorder quite a time ago. What other disorders? Victoria married her 1st cousin, whose son married a Dane, who had a son (KGV) who married a princess from a German noble family, who son married the daughter of a Scots nobleman, whose daughter married a cousin, whose son married an English member of noble family, whose son married an English commoner. This is Occasional.

@viera1963 Paul’s mother was the Kaiser’s sister. Frederika was the daughter of the Kaiser’s daughter - i.e. she was the Kaiser’s granddaughter. Now, if the Kaiser’s daughter, Viktoria Luise, who gave birth to Frederika, was the niece of the Kaiser’s sister, Sophie, who was Paul’s mother, then Paul was her first cousin. Yes? This means that Frederika, the daughter of Paul’s first cousin, Viktoria Luise, would have him as an uncle. Do you see it differently?

"Hard work; concentration; and constant training" if you want a gold medal he says. But how many young men in Greece could afford to train for the Olympics at that time. Children of school age assumed the role of their family's bread winner because their fathers, mothers, or both, were imprisoned in concentration camps on the islands where they were kept till the mid-1960s. Many of them never returned. His parents were "surprised" when they were jeered during their London visit in 1963.

@viera1963 Marrying second,third,fourth cousin and so on is not typical just for royals but for all people. The only difference is that royal genealogy is well known while commoners often do not know who their 4th cousins are. A lot of people end up marrying distant relatives without even knowing about it. Read something about the pedigree collapse. in the past ordinary people knowingly married their cousins and it was not seen as problematic.

@viera1963 That's the point I was trying to make. Eventually people forget how they are related to each other and they will marry some one they are related to. It happens. A cousin posted a picture of one of our ancestors on facebook and the response was great people were saying I know her she's my so and so but they did not realize that they were related to the other people who also made comments until the picture was posted.

@viera1963 Although I am incorrect about it "typical" but Morganatic marriage was far more common in the byzantine empire then in the rest of medieval Europe,Anyone could become emperor given the fact that you had oddities like Justin I whose life began as a lowly peasant and concluded as a roman emperor.

He himself mentioned that he was part of a team! Are you so bitter as not to listen? In other lands, if a member of a royal family, such as Zara Philips of the UK, wins a medal That Person become famous because of their particular status. Do you know the members of the US gold medal swimmers with Michael Phelps as Beijing? This is a phoney issue put up by Constantine haters If someone breaks many records, then that person becomes internationally famous, but a team does not. Understand?

@viera1963 Matter of labelling. In Greece we call uncles the cousins of our parents, whether first, second or third cousins. But still it is considered incestuous to marry the son or daughter of your cousin. I understand that even 3rd cousins can not get married in the Greek Church.

@viera1963 That's fine! As you say: "in the rest of the world"; for Greece it is too late now - so we had it. For what it's worth, in Greek, the word θείος and θεία are used for uncle and aunt, and variations of the word feature in Linear-B, before the introduction of the alphabet, and the meaning was not limited to the Modern Greek meaning (uncle). It is still used in fossilised forms in words connected with matters divine. Linguistically the word θείος has the same origins as the word Zeus.

you should look how royalty titles were given INITIALLY and who were the FIRST royals+how new blood came into the family. The first royals werent all related bcoz titles were initially given to important ppl,kings etc. Finally there are many royals in the world that you wouldnt know.insignificant ppl that as long as they dont re-marry an IMPORTANT royal figure the link with royalty wares off in their family in time.AND DIES OFF EVENTUALLY But if they do the link is renewed

@ILuvNeimanMarcus It is disturbing that you would take that same old tired stance about slavery. Is that supposed to be a put down? I have white great grandparents. I live in the south most black people here are of some sort of mixed ancestry. With all of the databases like ancestry.com and afrogenesis did you really think that I would not know my own family history? Here in my area my situation is far from unique.

"your grammar is really bad" Your criticism isnt constructive unless you intend to point out those blatant mistakes or you wish to talk in another language Royals have big families and are only distantly related.Which are YOUR FACTS that they have problems due to interbreeding?Tribes in the past and ppl in small villages where practically a big family,Marriages of first cousins can be problematic,eventhough arab families disproove this fact.Big cities with millions is a modern phenomenon
@lesababy

@ILuvNeimanMarcus Plus our family also has a native american component. In many families that is how most blacks and whites are related because both groups married natives. In my fathers family my white ancestors were not slave owners but share croppers who did not own slaves. They share cropped on plantation land but had common law marriages with black women who were owned by their land lord. Did you really think this was something I just saying to be saying it?
@lesababy

@ILuvNeimanMarcus Your comments are to be expected. But the burden of proof is on you and not me. I don't have to claim, I have the proof and I'm in no way ashamed of my heritage or my ancestry. As soon as your read my original comment and saw that I was black you were looking for blood and ready to insult. You have shown your true self and the racist comments prove that. But if you like I can send you the evidence but it wouldn't matter because to you it would still be made up.

(meaning that 55% of worlds population lives in vilages today and 35yrs ago 65% did.100 yrs ago the vast majprity lived in villages,but even by todays statistics according to your theory half of the worlds population should be sick.the royals in fact married royals from other countries(to keep good relations)and didnt spend their life within their small village as most ppl did.Also the pope wouldnt allow marrying a first cousin In fact there is a case where they forced him to do so

@viera1963 In the Byzantine empire had some incestuous dynasties, Unlike other monarchies during its time it was still a dejure republic & it was typical for the emperor to wed a servant girl from his household which infact was the basis for the Cinderella story.

@Gayalert69 Re: Mr DeGrecia's «Greekness»:- His Greekness or non-Greekness is as irrelevant now as it was when his great grandfather was imposed on the Greeks as a king, soon after the Bavarian experiment failed. Neither the Bavarians nor the Danes came as «Greeks», and neither newcomers nor the Greeks pretended othewise. The only one of the Glücksburg gang who served a full term in office, without violent death or exile, was Paul because he enjoyed the support of the CIA.

do you know who are the members of the royal family of Albania?.you dont.And guess what.they are MANY.If one of them will marry an important royal the title will be REMEBERED + that gives you the impression that royals are a few ppl that keep marrying each other.Do you deny the fact most people lived in VILLAGES all over the world?How were they not related? How about the wild tribes-"üntouched by modern civilisation"(in Afrika+Latin Amerika) that count just hundreds of members

@viera1963 People seem to bring this fact up a lot but do you know that many people are related to each other several times over if their families lived in the same area for a while. I'm African American and you would be surprised how many people I'm related to in my community who are not African American. I have cousins from my dad's side who have married cousins on my mom's side and cousins who are double cousins because a set of sisters married a set of brothers.
