Music as a healer: Alison Balsom at Imagining the Future of Medicine

As part of its mission to promote access to the arts and sciences, the Royal Albert Hall hosted an historic event on Monday 21 April 2014, curating a spectacular and provocative programme of talks from world experts celebrating innovation, imagination, inspiration and their passion for a better future in health and medicine.
Hosted by Irish comedian and presenter Dara Ó Briain with special guest and TEDMED curator Jay Walker, Imagining the Future of Medicine also featured a performance from The Kaos Signing Choir for Deaf & Hearing Children.

Allison is an absolutely superb trumpet player from the UK. However, she is also an amazing ambassador wherever she travels, as a communicator for the importance of music in the development of children around the world. When you speak with truly inspired musicians, you will generally find that they are fluent in many fields of study and that they profoundly understand and reflect compassion and most importantly, empathy for their fellow travelers on this planet. Music is cerebral. It has inspired and reinforced this passion for purpose and cognition. Thank you Allison.
