It's changed a lot since I left the RFA it's more Royal Navy these days but everyone to their own.

Absolutely agree with that. When I joined the RFA (albeit straight from the RN), it was still manned by personnel who were truly civilian mercantile seafarers. By the time I had left, a lot of senior officers thought they were in the RN!

Whats the difference between the RFA and the Regular Royal Navy? Are they both paid the same ?

RFA is more commercial, if you join the deck crew or engineer it’ll be like a normal ship, obviously there are specialists for the navy though. Navy is a lot more stricter and the qualifications for the job is different to regular commercial/RFA

I've done both and if you are going to sea RFA is the better option. Better leave, crew bar,Terms & conditions, own cabin, potential for tax back, crew bar and MCA accredited qualification. Oh and there's a crew bar.

David Clayton my fitness levels are pretty high, I’m able to run 2km In 11.5 mins

@@davidclayton8658 if you are joining as a rating there is no fitness test. You just have to pass the MCA medical (guidelines can be found on line)
