I know people are saying that Chapman’s slump is getting serious but I don’t think so. He had one really bad game against the twins, but other than that, he has just gotten unlucky…. He has been throwing 102, 103 lately and looks fine to me.
@mario3mmelero5713 жыл бұрын
"Unlucky"? Really? Why don't you look up all the walks with no outs in the 9th he has been giving up on June, I don't call that been unlucky, I call that been on a slump.
@taarakr7393 жыл бұрын
@@mario3mmelero571 Yes, while he has issued many walks, he has given up runs because of the new ghost runner at third, ground outs at first that a runner scored from third, sacrifice fly’s, etc. Often, he isn’t even giving up these big runs in hits, just like yesterday, it was luck. Boone loaded the bases up and pressurized his closet to throw strikes, which he couldn’t in the moment. The following batter, (with the score tied at 4-4), didn’t even mean to swing the bat. He checked his swing and got a lucky bounce to score the run from third while also being safe at first. Yes, stats are extremely important, but you have to know when to draw the line and trust your gut, this is one of those moments, and you can tell that noting is going in favor. But it will soon. This has just been unlucky for Chappy, after he got off to a steaming start.

I am talking about issuing walks left and right in the 9th inning here, not talking about extra innings at all.

I wouldn't blame Chapman as much for tonight's blown save since Boone called the IBB. Pitchers get into rhythms and Chapman already struck out 2 in the inning. Then he gets a mound visit and opts to pitch to Santana. And Boone decides he doesn't like the idea once he's already in the dugout and chooses intentional walk. I'd be pissed off too since with 2 outs already, your manager is basically telling you "I don't trust you to pitch to him, so I'm gonna give you a rookie (whom I expect to be worse) who's never faced you"

After yesterday's struggle in futility, it's good that the Yanks finally got some hits with runners on base.... If barely. I mean 13 walks, multiple instances of bases loaded or 2 men on and nothing to show? Not sustainable. Also not sustainable is too many batters with sub. 200 averages and high amount strikeouts. I'd keep the alignment of judge in center and give Andujar and Frazier atbats and keep Gardner on the bench for now.
