I find the smiles truly emotional. I guess that's because traditional and official portraiture so rarely shows a smile or a warm expression. Seeing these people smile feels like a true gift. From the writing, research, editing, and recreations, you both do fabulous work.

My favorite thing about Richard III is they did the forensic reconstruction and didn't tell them who it was supposed to be.. when they were done it was obviously, unmistakably Richard III. which among other things tells you how accurate medieval portraits were.

This reconstruction may even be a bit more accurate. The one from his skull would probably not take into consideration the strain he was under those last two years, between the deaths of his family and the ongoing attacks by Henry's faction. The portrait and this image show that strain's effect. But Shakespeare's fantasy will never again be the true "portrait" of young kink Richard III.

The smiles...to see these historical figures of massive importance smile, especially after all of their portraits depict them with such staunch and stoic expressions...that is what truly brings them to life. Their smiles make them so much more approachable. As far as who I would like to see a recreation of in 2024, one who immediately comes to mind is Massasoit. The Wampanoag sachem who forged a rather tenuous but vital peace with the Puritan settlers of modern day Massachusetts in 1620.

Helen of Troy... while she is somewhat different from what Hollywood and such would regard as "most gorgeous" today it is easy to see how a people might utterly idealize the face that you created. Beauty may be subjective, but some beauty is timeless and cuts across cultural lines. I do like the conception of George Washington in a contemporary setting.

Richard the III didn’t hide the princes in the tower to become king. He never wanted to be a king as he said so, but because of the prince’s young age he had to take control until they’d be of age to rule. He was killed by Henry the VII because the latter was raised and educated to one day make the Lancaster’s the royal family. The princes disappeared so they wouldn’t be killed by Henry the VII and, one day when they’d return, one of them would be king again. But that never happened. That’s why the current royal family doesn’t want dna tests done to potential remains of the princes.

Great work, as always! I’m glad you described how you created Helen of Troy’s face. While your version is attractive, I don’t consider it to be killer beautiful; but you did say you created her using standards the Greeks of her time would have considered “the most beautiful woman in the world.” Enough said. One more observation: your smiling creations all have lovely, straight teeth … even Washington. 😁 Thanks for sharing your had work .., I always watch your recreations. 👍🏻👏🏻
