OMG, this video was so inspiring. I agree with you when you say this is not an easy business. I gave up a lil while ago, but I got the soap bug really bad. So I may put thing back together again for another try. If I had seen this video back then, I likely would not have given up. Congrats on your success. I have been watching you since you were at your parents and to see your growth as a young woman, wife and now mom is a breathe of fresh air. I am hopeful again.

on KZbin. As interest started to really take off...things just went berserk. There started to be back-biting. Fighting and accusations on Facebook soaping groups. The silliness of the'real' soapers (CP) vs the 'fake' soapers (M&P)?? etc ...just general unpleasantness. No one wanted share (not recipes or designs without permission that is understandable) but petty trivial things. Watching and learning on YT was no longer fun and creative. Thankfully, the tide is tuning that way again and you're still here. Now with your precious little person. She's so cute she looks like a doll lol...Perfect. We love you! Thank you for all you do. Sharing your knowledge, ideas, creatively...How you do what you do, along with your sweet, zesty personality and contagious and infectious laugh. :) Never change!

We are on the same page on the lavender. I make candles, wax melts, lotions, and mp soaps and it took me a long time to drag my feet and bring on a lavender scent. I hate it, but it sells so well. I dread every time I have to restock and make it.

She is such an adorable little one oh makes me miss when my daughter was so little she turned 7 the 3rd oh my, how time flies, and you little one def has your eyes......big blue eyes. thank you for all the handy tips. I don't make soap, its going to sound weird but i bake a lot, not professionally only occasionally and you drop swirl you use for soap i used t to bake a cake, and oh my did is come out pretty.....so i incorporate the ideas you have in cake making and the scrapy scrape really is useful helps get all that little bit out. also helps when you mix color in the batter. I would like to make soap one day just for fun but i'll save up for that. I usually only do things like baking and making for gifts for the family. Just because i love them. Home made stuff is just so much more appreciative that store bought stuff.

I don't have a shop light but I had bought umbrella lights for photography so now when I film soap videos I pull the table away from the wall and stick those behind the table lol. I guess it works, it's better than when I didn't have any lights at all. I do wish I had a better autofocus on my camera though

I feel like a lot of times people don't really want to share wisdom for fear of competition. 😕 I too am in my 2nd year of just bath products in general. Still figuring out what people like and what they don't. Working a fulltime job is super hard when "I gotta make something!" But I often get very discouraged as well, and I haven't even gotten into making soap with lye yet, just m&p (but I love the quickness of it). *in due time* anywho... keep it up! When I would see a bar of soap for 10.00 I always wondered who was buying such...because I know I can't. Is there any way to make a great bar of soap for maybe 5.00 a bar, even that is a stretch for so many..

This video is so valuable to me, you have no idea. I am staring my very own fashion label in January 2018 and to get imput from other self-employed creators on how they started, how things worked out, even how to be your authentic self etc. is very comforting. Even though soap making differs from making clothing, it is still kind of the same concept - we manufacture products. So thank you very much for your candor and this video, it helps me to get over some fears and concerns and to get me an idea on where to go really. :)

So late on the questions, but maybe this will get seen and answered by someone 'in the know'. I hear so many soap makers sharing a common dislike for the cleaning up process. I'm new to the craft.. like haven't gotten started yet new (taxes are a coming though!) so I'm wondering if its really difficult or more involved than one might expect it to be? Are there special processes that need known for cleaning up? Also I see lots of makers using a stand mixer for making body butters and creams. Should these be kept separate from kitchen use as well? I LOVE Mint! I use it in conjunction with Everydollar for our personal budgeting because I'm too lazy to keep track of receipts (Mint connects to accounts for free), and I prefer to budget to the penny (Mint only allows for whole dollar budget categories).

Amy Lett they do bases on the oils and additives used. Geberally things with milk or dairy will go off quicker, but they still have a long shelf life if stored well
