Great advice, Katie! I trick I use to save on shipping, depending on the contents of my order, is to break up my order into 2 orders. It doesn't work with every order, or every supplier but it's worth paying attention to. It depends on how the company calculates shipping, and most of the time an order with both heavy and light items is the best candidate for trying it. Just add and remove items from the shopping cart while paying attention to the changes in shipping.

Before I ever started making soap I made candles for years and I always bought my fragrance oils from Lonestar you’re 100% correct that their fragrance oils are a lot more potent than other brands it is definitely a bonus when using it in soap a little does go along way they’re very highly concentrated. I would highly recommend Lonestar too!!!

Thanks for yet another awesome video! All your advice and suggestions are always so helpful. I loved the dollar store tip!! I'm just starting to actually buy my supplies to start out, I've been reading, researching and watching videos on soap making so I'm so thankful for channels like yours that are wiling to share their tips, tricks and lessons learned. Thank you for sharing with us and congrats on your baby!

Megan Innes here's another tidbit for dollar tree if you're trying to save money on soaping you can get drawer organizers and use those for soap molds. I didn't line them the first time. They worked and I love the Betty crocker spatulas and pouring mixing bowls Katie mentioned as well. I also got some cooling racks there 3 for a dollar I think maybe it was two? I use those to dry my soaps as well. I think I may line the drawer organizers next time though lol. I did make my own loaf molds out of foam poster board they sell as well and line it w/ a plastic bag.

brambleberry are good, but boy do they take their sweet time to send you the stuff. Plus they always get you on the shipping.
@GrimlyYours7 жыл бұрын
i feel you there. their shipping is my biggest complaint. i know everyone says they can't help shipping prices but, man, upwards of $20 bucks for barely 1lb of actual merchandise is murder on a tiny budget.
@jenniferpond49317 жыл бұрын
corduroy99 agreed. I don't think anyone should have to wait 2+ weeks for an order. rediculous.
@laurieparker86487 жыл бұрын
I've, for the most part, have stopped doing business with them for this very reason. They have my money and I don't get my products for two weeks. That is not acceptable to me.
@RosalindGriffith7 жыл бұрын
corduroy99 I never have to wait 2 weeks, a little over a week every time.
@laurieparker86487 жыл бұрын
well then you are lucky. That has NEVER been the case for me. I used to order from them often and stopped because of this very issue. Drives me nuts. I like their products but if I place an order it should be out within 24 hours, not a week later. Just not acceptable to me. As a small business owner myself, I would never expect my customers to wait that long.

I have been using most of the suppliers you list, but some are really new to me, so I'll be checking them out. By the way, have you tried Bulk Apothecary? This was the first supplier, along with Bramble Berry that I've ordered from. They have a really good collection of essential oils, fast shipping, and the prices are reasonable.

I haven't started with soap making yet but I am doing lip balms. Soaper's Choice had a lot of the oils and butters i use for lip balms so thank you for the suggestion. I was comparing prices, including shipping, with Whole sale supplies plus and then found out that Soaper's Choice is in Des Plaines, IL and I nearly freaked( I live in Chicago) lol. I was so excited because now they will be my #1 choices for oils, beeswax, and butters. I was looking so hard for a beeswax supplier for my coconut wax/beeswax blend candles and now I have it at a low price. Thank you so much for this video and you are my inspiration to create my own soaps soon!

I'm so glad I found this video. Thank you for making it. I have a tiny little business I run from home, and I live right next to the Florida Everglades (seriously, there's a canal next to my house, and bam gator land) so I guess I live in the country lol. I have no suppliers around me and have to shell out money for everything with shipping. Brambleberry has never been a good option for me, monetarily speaking. I honestly feel like if I pay for two day shipping it shouldn't take a week or more for the company to get around to slapping a shipping label on my order. But thank you for this information. I have more resources than I thought I did. I appreciate it.

I’m watching this in 2020 and giggling because she’s so flabbergasted over 50k subscribers, and only 3 short years later she’s at 400k+ ... totally deserved! This video actually helped me as I’m getting I need to purchase my first I guess you would say my start up supplies. Right now we’re going to keep this at a hobby level and I tend to go overboard when I do things in my mind is swirling right now with what to buy and what not to buy and do I really need this and do I not need this and I am going to lose my “you know what” very soon.... This just put everything into perspective and made it very clear what I need to do so even three years later it’s very relative material

Not sure where you're from here in Tx? You should check out SW candle supplies they're located in Mesquite, Tx off IH 30. I got a bunch of soap supplies there. Called in my list as I was ordering lye both kinds and they do not ship that. Sent my hubby to pick up so we saved on shipping too. Also big lots has a huge container of coconut oil for $12.00 FYI. We got scents from triple AAA candle supply in Dallas those were fairly priced and so far I like the ones I've tried. Your soaps are soo pretty. I also have used lonestar as I make candles and tarts and I've used natures garden as well. I got my olive oil from Walmart as I don't have a membership to Costco (wish I did).

I order lots of butters, oils and additives from Natures Garden. I buy my Mica's, TD and a few fragrance oils from Nurture Soap. I recently started ordering from WSP...i love their free shipping. No one beats Nurture Soap micas......BB has some good ones too but Nurture is my go to Mica company.
