Diana was supposed to fly back to England that morning. She cancelled her flight. They changed cars and drivers,etc. Anyone wanting to kill her had weeks to do it. Why wait until that night? Her "psychic" told her it would be in her car and the brakes would be cut. That is not what happened. Martin Bashir's lies only increased her paranoia. Why did she not spend some of her divorce settlement on her personal security instead of trusting the Al-Fayeds? Diana died because she put her trust in the wrong people.
