I loved this video and I am so glad you were able to get a free copy of RPB Maker MV so you could do a First 20. I really enjoyed the dialogue you wrote. It seems so "you and Mal" like. I always love the videos that you guys do together and it would have been fun if she was able to join you and read her part of the dialogue. Of course in real life leaving money would still make it theft but we all know that you only do this sort of thing in games :)

The character generator looks a lot better than the on in VX thankfully. Characters turned out very awkward when you made them in it. I think the part I am most hyped for in MV is the javascript support.

Hey Stephen nice video! I'm a huge fan of rpg maker myself so I am so excited for this to be released. I did have a question though. I noticed with the sideview battle system the enemies were all displayed as still images wheras the heros were animated. While playing did you notice any ability to have the nemy battlers be animated as well, similar to how the heroes are animated?

+CheesyGames I've tried bringing in both animated GIF files (game refuses to load them) and animated PNG files (game will load them, but they won't animate). With scripting, I'm sure you could get the engine to do it, but it doesn't seem to be built-in to the system by default.

i've had RPG Maker XP and VX Ace for a while but recently picked up RPG Maker 2003 (since it was cheap on steam) and seeing MV, it looks like they have added a lot of options back from 2003 cause for XP and VXAce there was no battle animated players. the character generator isnt really new, it was first featured in VX (XP had a 3rd party Generator) but since you can go back to RPG Maker now, will we be seeing either more games or maybe some LPs for some RPG Maker games?

Hey there Stephen! I just finished watching this video and will most likely purchase RPG Maker MV now, I'm pretty much sold after seeing how easy it is to create your own story/game. If possible can you would be so kind on answering some questions I have. 1.) From what I see all the tile sets are squared because I assume everything has to fit with each other when painting the tiles, but does the character have to be the same size as the tile? If I drew a character slightly taller or wider will there be issues? 2.) I'm very interested in the text box/dialog stuff because that's how you tell a story, but is there a way to make it so that the character's portrait be behind the dialog box similar to what you would see in Visual Novels? Thank you.

+Onishima 1) I'm not sure if that's built-in to the system or not. 2) _Pretty_ sure this is built-in to the system. I imagine you'd do it by making a picture appear onscreen then run text separately. The important thing to remember is that the system is 100% customizable with javascript. So even if it's not built-in to the system, it's still achievable. Even if you aren't a javascript expert, there's going to be a ton of community support trying to achieve the same things you want to do, so if someone scripts it, you can just copy and paste their script.

Well, you should be able to make characters as you say, as you were able to do it in XP and VX Ace. You might have to add a "$" in front of the spritesheet as in VX Ace, though
