In my experience if you are using a newer nvidia GPU what makes MV go into a slog is Ansel. For some god forsaken reason Ansel is starting up with all my MV based projects. Yep. Ansel for a 2D engine. Ive posted on nvidia support but no answer other than "use the latest drivers" something that I already use. Im using a 1070 from MSI/Corsair btw, no OC or anything like Sweetfx installed.

I've been wanting to make my own little game for a long time, and hearing it's not too complicated is nice. I've had a small bit of experience with programming in college...in 2013, but I'll learn as I go along. Alkmi Run the xp_rtp104e.exe, let it install anywhere. Open the folder where it's installed (standard is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Enterbrain\RGSS\Standard) Copy the Audio and Graphics folders. Paste into the Gaia's Melody folder. (something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Echoed Games\Gaia's Melody, depends where you installed it).

I'm still considering whether or not I want to buy this program. I used RPG Maker XP in the past and liked it, but never finished my game idea. Considering starting again with MV. I started watching videos on KZbin about it and, I have to say, I like your videos the most. The explanations are short, clear, and informative. The videos are easy to digest and, more importantly, motivating. If I do get MV, I'm certain I'll become a regular viewer of your videos.Thank you!

For me, having to learn a new coding language and find/adjust MV-equivalents of different scripts and graphics is just not worth it, as my stuff tends to be somewhat code-heavy as opposed to a bunch of in-game editor stuff. In fact, doing script-equivalents to editor commands often allows for a lot more flexibility as you could, say, search for an event named "sidekick" and condition-command their move route instead of having to use consistent event IDs or the follower system. I like the native mouse support rather than the wonky mouse scripts for Ace along with the improved resolution, but there are just some scripts that I cannot go without that have not yet been made for MV.

If you want to become a game designer. Then get this engine, it is easy to work with and to let others enjoy your game, you should have to make it your own. And that is the core idea of game design. I started with this engine, eventually I made some very small projects in Unreal 4 and I'm going to try to get to NHTV which offers one of the best bachelors in Europe on Game Development.

It's because javascript and the graphical manipulation of what's being rendered is single threaded, so if your computer has many medium range cores, that may be good for many applications, but running javascript isn't one of them. JS likes to be run in a single yet very powerful core.

Hey Echo. I was wondering; If you ever make more tutorial-y stuff in future, would it be possible if you gave some insight on how you planned out your game? I understand it's more a remaster so you already have everything in your head for it, but like, how do you do your concepts and planning logs? I've struggled with the writing side of my gave deving so hearing how you tackle the... boring stuff, would be nice to watch/listen to. No rush/pressure - would just be nice to hear your personal opinion on how you tackled the non-rpgmaker stuff :) I also agree with the layer system though... It's nice that you can stack now, but a layer feature would have been so much nicer... So many things you have to fix when changing certain things >.

In all honestly, MV is a nice upgrade over XV Ace (I use it too). I love almost all of the additions to the engine and the improvements. Just wish it was better optimised, but then again trying to make a cross-platform engine takes time and good knowledge (and maybe some experience). The only thing its aggervating is when I transfer my project (Immortal Sins) over to MV, the engine design goes out of the window (RIP Quick Load, I'll miss you). Also, it's good to have you back.

@ 8:07 Hightly highly highly recommend using something like notepad ++ with a formatter. Makes reading json not a nightmare. And if you're editing it, there are validators online. Copy into one first to check its for the version you're using (some of them don't like exit and enter cmds ("/")). But that will help if you want to exit it but want to make sure that it isn't the reason stuffs breaking.

Do you have any recommendations on mapping while making the main part of your game? I'm wanting to do parallax mapping but that of course takes a long while. Is it better to go ahead and map everything out with base MV tilesets right away and worry about the parallax later or get the parallax done right away so you know what you're dealing with?

Tbh C# would have been a way better choice than JavaScript. Like it would still work on mobile and everything. But like way less resource intensive xD also youd have the ability to compile to native code xD You could even still play in a browser using Blazor lol

I kind of feel lucky that MV was the version my fiancee got me for my bday after this review... Now if only I can get the time to start figuring this bugger out. Maybe after midterms... I've been watching a LOT of your RPGM tutorials, tips, and tricks. So far, they're giving me a lot to keep in mind as I start conceptualizing small games to practice in (and add plug ins and replace default assets as I go, don't want to mess around with 'intermediate/advanced' features until after I have a thorough understanding of the basics)... Maybe later I'll get someone to convince me not to try and make a 60+ hour epic with thousands and thousands of dollars in FMVs and music (I have specific people I really, really want to hire) for a setting I've conceptualized and plotted a (4 to 6 season anime, multi-episode OVAs, 2 hour feature length film, novel trilogy, at least 2 video games, and a tabletop RPG) spanning 20K years of history, but for now, that's my "blue sky" project that will motivate the work I do getting there.
@FioreFire7 жыл бұрын
I don't mind the tiling system itself, but I'm not a huge fan of that default tile resolution. 48x48 is far too big and blocky to make anything that looks organic and so many of the games people have made with it just make this fact painfully clear. I AM a fan of the fact that plugins use Java now though. As a programmer this helps me out a bunch; I never did learn Ruby.
