Good work, excellent tutorial. Keep it up. One of the bigger problems is that there were never enough detailed Parallax tutorials for new comers. You have fixed that an accomplished a great thing. I notice now that MV has come out it seems this "generation" has a lot more tutorials to help people.

with a simple search of the plugin name you'll be taken to a website with a github link! which is just full of javascript if you click on said link. but if you right click on it and click 'save link as' it should be fine!! it'll probably save as a javascript file, from that point on you can just use it like any other plugin. i'm not sure if this is the 'best' method, but it's what worked fine for me so.

I watched the whole thing but there's something I don't understand. Its like you have to add the image twice. You specify the parallax image in the map settings, but then you also have to do a "showpicture/bind picture to map" for the same exact image. Why does the parallax image need to be added twice?

Nice tutorial, very explanatory. I have 2 tips for you regarding file sizes. To save PNG files on PS you rather use Export > Save for web. This will give you a smaller file size. For pictures with no transparency I highly advice to use jpeg format, just let quality on high and it will look perfect.

A way to avoid the water problem is to create 2 "base" map layers, one with water as a reference to make those rocks and plants under water, and the other one without the water (empty space). So in the end just hide the layer with water and keep the other stuffs. I hope I explained it right.
@KingOsmium2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lorelei! so I was attempting this earlier, and I find that when I set my parallax image, it turns it into a repeating pattern for some reason, rather than just putting the full image there. Any reason for this?

Subscribed, liked and favourited. One of the best tutorials I've ever seen for such a complex task. Just a thought: could you save yourself a lot of time with the water by drawing it as a solid color in RPG Maker so you can just 'magic tool' it away later on? EDIT: Oh, and if you do another one, could you do a town or something with LOTS of overlay?
@fallenlorelei9 жыл бұрын
+TheSuperQuail Actually, someone gave me a nice tip of editing the water tiles so that the grassy areas are transparent =D much easier than highlighting the edges of the water in PS! I hope to add a new tutorial for that soon. And haha "LOTS" of overlay? XD How much??
@TheSuperQuail9 жыл бұрын
Fallen Lorelei Hmm... could you maybe do a row of houses or a forest path? I don't really mind, I just love the overlay effect. It's so much more immersive to see your actor hide behind something that would actually hide them from view. Will your new tutorial show your new method of editing the water? Thanks.

Hi! Really nice tutorial! I'm really new to RPG Maker MV and have a question. You were using YEP's RegionEvents to restrict where the characters can move. I can change the directions around, but I can't move from the place. I triple checked all configs and they are all just like yours. I could make it move at last, it had something to do with the tileset of map, it has some relation with it that you haven't explained in the video. Also my character is walking all over the place, ignoring all the fields which he supposedly should not be allowed to walk. It seems a problem with Yanfly script, its seems its not working for me. Checked the program and its correctly configured.

+Iron Fist90 I realize you asked for this fix quite a long time ago, but other people are having the same problems. If you're still using the TDD plugin, you can add the command "Erase Picture" on the joining maps and set it to remove the previous picture. Place this as your first command in the new overlay action and it should fix the problem.

@fallenlorelei9 жыл бұрын
+Adji Reno I mention this in another tutorial. 1) You don't have to use the bottom parallax image as an event if you don't want to because it's already there, but I do because there's a weird bug that makes it blurry if I don't. 2) You need to have the other images as an event because you're controlling which layer they're going on. You don't need to use BindPicturesToMap though, you could also use Kaus Overlay, and that plugin doesn't require any events =]

"Parallax Mapping" is just overlays and movement restricting? if so, you don't need to go through all this trouble. you can just modify the properties of the tileset. under database editor, tileset, you can change various properties of each tile. including overlay, player passage, directional movement restriction, etc.
