I found the steam generator! It is located at This PC Windows(C:) Program files (x86) Steam Steamapps Common RPG Maker MV Generator And that's it :) I hope this helps steam users!

Slight Correction: Steam Install Base Directory (in case one chose to NOT install under Program Files like a BOSS) steamapps common RPG Maker MV (might also be RPGMV) generator (usually these are left lowercase unless changed manually)

For anyone who wants a quick way to get to their Steam RPG Maker MV folder: Go into your Steam Library under Software (that's where RPG Maker stuff is by default) and right-click on RPG Maker MV. A few options should pop up, near the bottom you should find Properties, click that. It'll open a window and along the top there'll be options. Hit Local Files and then under there you can hit Browse Local Files. Then just go in the folder titled Generator and follow everything this video said. Also HI ECHO! I've been creeping your vids for a while although I haven't had anything interesting to say in comments yet.

Now I just need to get rid of the ears on all the characters so that the beast ears don't look so awkward! Seriously, though, am I the only one bothered by the fact that you can't cover up the normal ears so that your custom characters don't look like they have two sets of ears?

To be fair, they didn't think... quite a few things through all the way ~_~ I think you should be able to create a blank ear graphic and have that selected.

Echo607 That'll work for the face, but for side view and overworld, you need to erase the ears from the base sprite itself. As much as I love MV, they could've at least given you hair options that cover up the human ears!

I have a problem... I wanted to add new accessories for the Character Generator (accessories for the face) I take the corresponding renders and put them in the folder Generator / Face / Male (and Female) respectively, but when the game starts, it is as if there were no new accessories, Any idea that it can be wrong? :(

If you have a graphic, you'll have to place it on the battler sprites and line it up/animate it one by one. Sirena Cona

I just wish I could modify the generator itself...I'm working on a bunch of different graphics for different age groups (bodies, clothes, etc), so I want different tabs for baby, toddler, child, etc... I know I could just make them myself, but I want to be able to upload them so other people can use them

does the generator accept larger resolution components, like the ones you show how to make in the "Bigger MV-Styled Character Sprites!" video? Because that seems like a very useful feature especially if you prefer the non-chibi style characters or want to make an obvious height difference between characters like child/adult etc, or does it only generate based on the chibi format and manual editing is needed on individual characters? btw loving the tutorials, it's helping me work out a lot of the features, I got VX Ace as my first RPGMaker then 2 months later I heard about MV and preordered it aswell because I was having a lot of fun creating stuff and now I've started on a full game. Any vids on some of the more basic features of the eventing system would be great though for us non-vet RPGMaker users that haven't created a full fledged game on it yet.

Is there a way to switch your character? Like your character went through a some sort of transformation and you have to change your character. Without messing up the rest of the game. (The one you are playing as)

I have a few questions before I get into RPG Maker MV. 1) Most of my friends are black, I cant find any videos which have a black skin tone available for character creation, does this support that? 2) Summons. I'm looking to do FF4/5/6 style summons that remove the party briefly, does it's move, then disappears, is this a thing? 3) Looking for scary dungeon tile sets, like bodies in cages, torture racks, blood, etc. ideas? and lastly 4) Job switching. I don't want 16 characters each different, I want maybe 6 that can job swap to 12-ish different jobs. Can you give me some feedback on this please?

Hey Echo607, I found the video very helpful but I'm having an issue with having my custom character generator parts showing up on my character. I see the graphic in the variation menu but when I select it to put on my character nothing shows up. I'm I doing anything wrong?

Make sure they're the right number- and that you did all of the sprites.(The battler page has around 90% of them, so if you haven't done those yet, you might not notice your other sprites working because those sprites won't show whatever you added until you add it to them.)

I know this is an old video, but I can't find solutions anywhere else. I did everything in your video and it works perfectly fine. However, I'm Anydesking my friend's computer and after giving him copies of all my parts to make a custom character and put them in their correct places, the front hair works fine but every time we choose the rear hair, it crashes. Everything's named correctly and put into its corresponding folders. We even have the same Steam/RPG Maker MV updated. It's working for me, but not for him. Please help.

Hey Echo how come when I try to add new parts to the generator they don't show up in the MV? Like I don't want to overwrite old parts. Just add new ones. The ones I have I just put them in the corresponding folders but they still do not show up in the program itself. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

+Echo607 I believe so but then again this is something a bit confusing for me. I received the parts from the forum. These are a few of the parts names. I put the files in the correct folders to match the other names/pics that resemble these. I.e I put the TVD in the TVD folder, TV in the TV folder, FG in the face folder, etc. Am I suppose to overwrite the old files names or is it possible to add new ones with the original ones that came with the program too? I'm having issues. So, I have a character that has ears from the Beast Ears category. The issue is, it looks super weird with the default ears on the side of the head. I made an item that removed them, but it still appears on the walking sprites. Is there a fix for this issue?

At around 5:10 you say to duplicate the new graphics over your old ones, then you go and hide the old layer and save the file. It is clear the new graphic is not positioned in the same spot as the old one. What is the point of duplicating the new one over the old one when you just hide the old graphic you are replacing rather than just renaming your new graphic and moving it to the correct location?

Mooshry That sometimes happens with the character generator for me too I've found that saveing multiple works for me. Hope that helps :)

Would you happen to know of a way to make it so that front hair goes over head accessories? I think the headbands work find, but the little forehead helmet/plate goes over every single set of bangs, and only 1 set lines up with it in such a way that it doesn't look awkward. i'd like to make all of my front hair styles appear as a layer on top of the plate, if possible?

+XvtorrentvX I suppose you could manually add in the accessories on the hair graphics and have them as separate hair pieces. You could also try putting them under beast ears perhaps, I'm pretty sure those appear under the front hair. though I don't know how they fair compared to other layers.

+Echo607 Ey! I figured it out! So after watching this video to sort of figure out what some of the numbers, etc mean, I went and took a look at the files. The accessory in question is the first one of Accessory 2's (or B in the file names). I renamed it to AccA, adjusted the numbers and all of that, and it now shows up beneath the bangs. Had to go back and make sure I changed the 16 and 17 in the face option to 13 and 14 to match AccA's, and it now works! Looks a little odd with some of the bangs, but for the most part, it works perfectly now. :)

to complicated for me and my simple brain lol all that underscore stuff went over my head I also don't have that software your using , I have managed to add my own character thoughusing gimp to add transparency but it was so much easier when I could just import it lol. I can't find a decent template for MV side battlers I have one but it's not set in to separate boxes like theRPG Maker 2003 template battle char sets. Cool vids though subbing ya.

+Lagia Lugia What specifically are you trying to add for battlers? It's basically the same idea, but the battlers(in some cases) require more parts(specifically for clothes) It also won't show things if they're not named correctly or missing images for them:/

If you just want to import it as a battler graphic, save it(as a .png file type) under your game's SV battlers folder(or use the resource manager re-added in v1.1 to import it from a different location). If using it as an enemy, it'll require an SV enemies plugin.

+HonorAmongScars Not easily:/ Things finicky and has to have the exact correct names for all of the parts, and the selectable color for the generator has to be exact, and seems to be a slightly different shade for each type of part. Oh, they also have to be lined up exact, but if you've got all that then sure go for it:P

Were you talking about just adding them into the program as normal images, as opposed to adding them to the generator? Coz in that case, you just need to open your game, go to "Game" at the top, "Open Folder" and copy/paste/save them into the img/ whatever it is folder:3

If you have steam, Generator can be found by going Steam > steamapps > common > RPG Maker MV > Generator.

Very helpful. I normally work with Unity but I was trying to play around with RPGMMV for fun, and man, the way they handle these assets is atrocious. I probably would have just done a directory for every image type and read them in alphabetically, but apparent Kadokawa doesn't like to keep things simple.
