I ran this adventure to begin my groups adventures into Hyperborea, after your reviews, now a year and a half ago. It was amazing fun. It took us a total of two sessions to complete and with how things went. I had them waking up from being drugged and press-ganged into work, then added an encounter on the seas, of two small skeleton manned large canoes before the adventure. It was a fantastic time and watching them handle their own infections and near the point of deciding who gets to live and who falls to zombism..

@@captcorajus, that they aren't. Overall it went well, mother and son both saved just in time by carrying them to town. After finding out those two had nearly died to zombism the town mobilized in the night to hunt it down, sleep be damned. My party definitely fell for the trapped weasel too. They're fight with the warlock and priest ended in a mage vs. Priest knife fight after all others had been defeated..

Hey Cap, love the vids! If you’re taking requests I’d be interested in seeing some more DCC reviews including the vault of the dragon kings. Would be cool to also see a Vampires of Waterdeep review (from Dungeon Magazine 125-128)

I try to listen to what people are looking for. After the dieties and demigods video, I've got a DCC module I'm going to review right after that.

The 3rd edition incorporates all the new monsters, spells, magic items and such from all the published adventures to this point. The combat round was greatly simplified. That's it.

Hey Captain maybe your friend would be willling to sit down and write out the pronounciation rules for the names along with a fair number of examples and with some public domain ( and accurate)Viking pics to throw it on Drive thru for a buck or 2.

Every time Jeffrey Talanian sees or hears it said, he is quick to correct people and say: No, Hyperborea is based on Original D&D. Not AD&D.
@captcorajus9 ай бұрын
Really? He's never mentioned that to me. He's told me that the game is loosely based on a variety of classic D&D elements, and a significant number of original ones. If you notice, the alignment system is Holmes Basic and the initiative system is sort of reverse Holmes.

Im running castles and crusades but will look into hyperborea and its adventures at some point. Great review as always. Also yes happy 50 years that will be amalgamated into an over priced book that so far from interviews with be loaded with politics and preachy wokeism that is plaguing wotc. Ill happily pass as i have done everything they've published since rime of the frost maiden. Be where you stand on the matter, that is your choice, but to take the jabs they did at gary and dave as well as early tsr is inexcusable for me. Feel free to argue, i dont care.
@captcorajus9 ай бұрын
I don't argue over editions. Its pointless. The best version of D&D is the one that you have fun playing and makes you happy, be it 1st Edition or 5th Edition. I would hope that's not a controversial stance. While I did run 3 campaigns with it, ultimately, I found that I don't care for 5E myself for a rather long list of technical reasons that have zero to do with any particular opinions of the current creators. That said, I certainly do appreciate 5E for bringing Fantasy RPGs to the forefront of the zeitgeist, and the large number of new players that have found the hobby because of it. Game on!
@iantaran28439 ай бұрын
The Creator worked with Gary on Castles and Crusades before running off and making his own system and setting. I've heard people call it 2nd edition if Gary never lost the company 🍻 I can understand where your coming from and if it means anything. Everything Hyperborea seems to be removed from all of that drama. The creator focuses on his love for the game and world he created and I have a ton of appreciation for it.
