As some have already noted, Aurora is best appreciated in her live performances which bring so much emotion to her creations - the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize performance of the Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1) and the December 2017 Nidarosdomen Cathedral performance of Through the Eyes of a Child or Lucky and The Current performance in 2019 of It Happened Quiet. Her recent videos of Exist for Love in 2020 and the recent Cure For Me are compelling.

AURORA live is just incredible! She pulls off all of the vocalizations from the studio versions, in fact improves them, and pulls off the production values, often improving those as well!

What he said. Please check out some of these live performances! Murder Song and the 2017 Nidarosdomen performances of Through the Eyes of a Child and Lucky are insanely good. For the most part I agree but the studio version has an element I always loved. Those little bits where parts blend perfect. The "fall" in the second time through "I kept runnin for a soft place to fall" where the vocals and synth seem as one sound gets me every time.

Just a hint - with superlative artists like Aurora, always react to live performances. For this song, her performance at the Nobel Peace Prize concert stands out. And yes, she has the finest backing singers, particularly Silja Sol, who is an amazing soprano in her own right. And just one more thing - an eleven year old Aurora wrote this.

I liked your reaction. Aurora wrote this song when she was about 11! The producer who would later join Auroras band, Magnus Skylstad provided backup vocals along with Selma Stang. I find Aurora's use of harmonies absolutely breath taking. Aurora has stated that Leonard Cohen as an influence, hence she, like Cohen, likes the feeling the contrast between the male and female voice brings.

I found AURORA (stylized in all caps) three days ago and haven’t stopped listening since. In Runaway, she sings lyrics “take me home, home where I belong”. I found a video on KZbin where she talks about all the lyrics and she says she remembers being in her mother’s arms and that being a safe and comfortable place for her. What a wonderful young woman. She exudes hope for our future and makes me feel the same. Thank you for this unique reaction. Thx for a so nice reaction. Love Aurora music, her voice, expressiveness (of course here is only a music) and also important but often enigmatic and a little poetic lyrics. BTW: she wrote this song at a age of 11. There is so much great songs from her but I recommend to listen more f.e. live: Lucky live from Nidarosdomen (she wrote the song at a age of 9) and All Is Soft inside from KEXP 2018, Murder Song live in Nobel Prize Concert. And much more to go :).

Well - this is why I love your content, man. Being able to articulate what you hear beyond "that was pretty" brings so much value to us, your followers. Aurora is not the biggest selling "young female singer-songwriter" out there. But I claim she is one of the absolutely most interesting (at least from the perspective of an older music-lover). I would highly recommend her live version of "Lucky" rearranged (almost) completely acoustically for string orchestra, harp, male choir and church organ for the "Nidarosdomen concert". It is not really a "stripped version" but the orchestration here really outlines her songwriting, harmonic and use of tension/release sensibilities. (In addition to showcasing that her vocals are truly NOT a studio magic creation). I know your brain would fiest on all the elements she puts in and she outlines so stunningly beautiful and clearly in this version as I have always claimed it can be used as a teaching piece of compositional ABC.

You likely had other comments suggesting Aurora, but I made one yesterday and honestly I feel seen. I'm delighted you decided to check her out! Aurora has an incredible band who accompany her, one of the band members, Magnus, has helped her compose and write music since she started. Her background singer, Silja, is an incredible vocalist in her own right and their blend when they harmonise gives me so much gooseflesh. They're honestly incredible. I love this song for the spaces she allows to happen between phrases. The combination of the instrumental and the vocals is just so beautifully melded both when they combine and when those lifts happen to give it more impact. If you watch her KEXP performance you can see the band in action and get an idea of their general live set up if you're interested. Plus she's honestly just such a joy to watch perform. In addition to all her original music, she's got lots of live covers she's done where she's rearranged songs and really made them her own. Some of my favourite covers she's done include: Life on Mars (David Bowie), God is a woman (Ariana Grande - She had one hour to learn the song, rearrange it and perform it and absolutely killed it), Believer (Imagine Dragons), and Teardrop (Massive Attack). Overall, Aurora's music toys with genres in a way I really love. You'll hear synths, regular instruments, folk tones, operatic tones, and it all still manages to be quintessentially Aurora in nature. She's a real artist and has such a way when it comes to touching her audience. Side note: Aurora was the voice of the siren in Frozen 2, which is where she comes in with regard to Disney. Anyway, I'll shush now. Thanks so much for checking her out and I hope to see more soon!

Aurora is awesome, you should check out her live performances. She has such a stage presence. She learned piano by herself when she was 5 to 9 only by replicating songs she heard, basically songs by Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen which her parents heard the most. Absolute pitch hearing is really magical. People will come here with a lot of reaction requests from her, so I will not even leave mine here. If you liked this one, you can basically pick most of her live stuff on youtube at random and you won't be desappointed. Especially if it's from the venues NIDAROSDOMEN , HAIK or KEXP

First time watching one of your music and song reactions. I listen to Aurora a lot after seeing the video that featured her voice in the Disney movie "frozen" in the song "into the unknown". I haven't come across a song of hers that i dislike. I'm an old geezer that has a music library of basically "classic rock". She sure has opened a new music window for me. Her live performances are great. Thank you for your reactions, i like how you get into the "technicalities" of the song, giving us your expertise in the production methods used. Thanks and i'm looking forward to hearing more Aurora from you. Oh btw. I understand that Aurora started writing songs at an early age...she may have written "Runaway" at age 11 or 14, not sure.

I adore her music and listened to her music for a solid three months straight in the late-summer/fall of 2019 right after her most recent album came out. She is so masterful in her live performances, as you might have gleaned from every other comment 😅, that in many instances certain live performances are warmer and more lush than the studio recording. She is mostly in the Electronic Pop domain so I'm not sure how complex or foreign her composition style would be. Immaculate Vocalist, though 🖤 Songs I recommend from her studio albums are 'It Happened Quiet,' 'All is Soft Inside,' or 'Infections of a Different Kind.'

Please do Aurora's cover of God is a Woman. According to a comment from another user in that video "What makes this even more impressive is that she didnt even know what song she was supposed to cover on this show. As you found, Aurora's performances are inspirational and very worthwhile to hear. But as everyone else says, with this particular performer and her team, enjoyment from the audio aspect here is only half of of her performances. Total appreciation and enjoyment requires her visual input to complete the stories she paints (rather than just tells) so well through her music in conjunction with her unique movement and gestures. It's kind of like a very special body language any actress would be proud of! Her live performances are even more enjoyable than her very impressive official video releases.

Wonderful reaction! I was hoping you would discover her. Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 25 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, her videos are mini-masterpieces as well. A short list of original songs: Runaway - Nobel Peace Prize concert and her music video Through the Eyes of a Child - Nidarosdomen concert, my recommendation Live Stripped - VIVO UK Lift: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXfddquLg5aBbqs It Happened Quiet - Nidarosdomen concert, but I'd recommend the live at The Current version as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4aQf2mCpt-Xf68 Churchyard - Live on KEXP Winter Bird - Nidarosdomen concert and her music video Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 - Nobel Peace Prize Concert Lucky - Nidarosdomen concert Little Boy in the Grass - Nidarosdomen concert The Seed - Music Video, HAIK Concert The River - Music video, Live in Bergen 2020 Exist For Love - Music video, Daydreamer - Music video She also does some awesome covers: Life on Mars - David Bowie Believer - Imagine Dragons God is a Woman - Ariana Grande Across the Universe - John Lennon Teardrop - Massive Attack
