I bought a ‘13 Boss ... had it for a bit over 3 yrs and loved it. Really fun car to drive - and comfortable to be in. Used it as my daily. Traded it for the GT350 in ‘16... great handling car as it was made to be - and let that go after 3 yrs. I recently found a perfect barely used ‘14 GT500. Absolutely loving it. I plan to hold on to this one. For me - it’s the right one. Great time for a Mustang fan ... there’s something out there for everyone.

@robcourtnall53323 жыл бұрын
I am just offering, because FEW SEEM TO KNOW. There is a great documentary, of the designing of this car. It was literally, designed/refined, at Laguna Seca. Ford invited 3 persons. The original Racing Champ, back in the day, who drive a Boss 302. Fitting. The other 2, were a NASCAR driver and F1 driver. After a couple of laps each, they made design change requests. All were made, until they al agreed, there was nothing more to do, making, basically, a track and ferocious track, racing car. The BMW M3 held the lap track record for so long and it seemed nothing could beat it, for a long time. It was time to completely rethink and redesign the Mustang. They then did official laps and murdered the existing lap time. No surprise. Carroll Shelby stopped by, just to see it, asked if he could try it and they did. He contributed, so much, in the past, for Ford. He wanted his name on the car, anywhere, not as a designer, but, in his opinion, no question, the best Mustang, ever built. That was amazing and the documentary was fantastic. Some people seemed to under appreciate the car, thinking, straight line muscle cars, of old, but this is, a track ready, tested, racing car, literally. If finding one, in good shape, a Mustang fan, having the cash, wanted to buy a car, definitely, not buying it, would be ridiculous, avoiding other words, this really, changed the muscle car idea, for all, to Muscle Racing Cars. No longer, can it just run straight fast, but could it, survive Laguna Seca. I say survive, because the track was designed, purposely, to push every element of a car, to the extreme, without it dying, or failure. Horsepower, torque, acceleration, extreme braking, extreme control/suspension needed, so it is a track, demanding perfection, in all areas and driver talent, which is doable for amateurs, of course, less aggressive, but that an amateur can, a feat. Many, myself included, feel very confident, to push a sports car, pretty hard, but that track, is intimidating. That M3 time, could not be beaten by production Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and iconic cars, just to make the point, that is was not a great affordable car time, a great time period, so this Mustang had to be completely redesigned, needed serious pro racing input. It may not wow, as a daily driver, but if you drove completely aggressively, on a winding road, with hair pin turns, not suggested, but it will due it, if you can, killing other cars. This I think, makes it special, because Chevy and Dodge rethought their Muscle Cars, as track cars, not strip cars snd Shelby, obviously a racing legend, was inspired to get back in the game. Yes, the models that followed, are superior, but this is the car that changed, Muscle Cars, to Supercars, really. So, Hot or Not? Many not knowing the story, absolutely a no-brainer, must buy, if you can, the ‘not” part, completely irrelevant. I wish someone told me sooner. The documentary, was just fantastic, literally, showing all laps, driver opinions, evolution, nothing not done, which I have never seen before, the process, of building a car, of this level, not just a fast car. Given this, my opinion is obvious, but an opinion. If I had the cash and one is in good shape, sold, right now, before it is gone, never, that approach to buying, but still, a mechanic thumbs up, if used. All the best, great video, be safe!

I regret that I didn't make it over to his house to experience the Boss 302. He said the GT350R is a better car than the Boss 302, but not by as much as you'd think. That GT350R was spectacular.

The 2012 2013 Boss 302 is a classic which will hold it’s value and gain in value in the years to come for prime examples including Laguna Seca models. They were a very special production car and truly limited in number with only a total of 7500 being made over a two-year span and with only 1500 Laguna Seca examples being built over the two-year span. The car was more than a decal and tire package. The Road Runner engine was a step up from the Coyote 5.0 which itself is a great engine. The Boss 302 Road Runner 5.0 had forged internals, Improved exhaust headers, improved intake and programmable with Truck Key. The red key truly changes the performance of the car and gives it a great lopey idle almost as if the engine were cammed. . It came with a first in the industry adjustable suspension for rebound, quad exhaust and 4 pot Brembo brakes and competition air ducts for the front brakes. The LS also came with improved aero and the Boss S front splitter, rear seat delete and extra bracing for chassis stiffness with an X brace. The car performed well in The Continental Tire Gt4 competition winning numerous championships. The Boss off the show room is still a great track car. For its day it’s track times off the showroom floor equalled the Audi R8 and BMW M3. Unheard of for a stick axle mustang at the time. It has a direct link and direct parallel to its Boss 302 history and heritage and also had direct involvement of Parnelli Jones and Carroll Shelby in its development. As the years pass there will always be a faster and more sophisticated car than what you buy toda but... the Boss 302 has all the ingredients to be one of those cars that will continue to be even more desirable as the years pass and not forgotten like the majority of cars. Not many cars possess that magic but the Boss 302 does. MT82 can be improved inexpensively if you are a serious track day addict like me 😎. A one piece aluminum drive shaft added easy if you want it but not necessary for track days. Even without these mods the Boss is dead reliable on the track and still a great track car. On the street it’s a hoot!

One of my favorite versions. I even like this one better than the 13 for the subtle body style differences. In 2012 I went Mustang hunting but I was new to cars so did not know much on the benefits or rarity of the car. Just figured the v6 was enough hp for myself and this did not come with leather, sync, and I did not know how to drive stick. I love my v6 in candy metallic red premium with MCA package and has all the inside creature comforts I wanted... but if I could go back in time I would get the Boss. It was such a special car at such a good price. Cars like that are not made anymore. Any rare car these days needs to cost like 80k.

Best Mustang of the S197 models, hands down. I’m biased though, owning 1 of the roughly 8,500 of them. It’s a NA Beast. 3rd gear you are breaking the law, 4th gear is jail time. I like the Shelbys but being able to handle the way this does, the engine, and so many other differences over the GT. Biggest negative is the MT82, upgrade the clutch and you should be good to go. If you buy it, take it to the track, you’ll be wanting to go all the time.

As the owner of a 2012 Boss 302 race red #1354 the answer is YES! It is such an exciting and fun car to drive and it really turns heads! With just about 3,200 made in each year and about 700 Laguna Seca versions made it's definitely a much more rare Mustang. If you want to boost it you can very easily and a stock motor will handle 800hp np, it really is something special. Also that car will have drone pretty much no matter what because the side pipes do not have mufflers, they just have baffles that are removable but you will always have drone. So if people don't like that, this car is not for you.

I’m looking at a Boss but has no Recaro seats. Would it be missing other options that come with the Recaro seats?
@scottthompson58552 жыл бұрын
Yes. Torsion limited slip rear end.

@@scottthompson5855 for a few grand more I bought a 2019 Bullitt with 4,000 miles on it. Enjoying so far.

The Recaro seats are amazingly comfortable and they hold you like a baby! I have a 13’ in race red and no way I’d buy a Boss without the Recaros.
