It's amazing seeing how much has change along CP's lines over 20 years.

I was there! We pulled over to watch it come out the other side and the rest was still going in. It was a long time ago and I've been trying to find this vid. AWESOME!!!

I lived in Canmore in 1993 and many other years. I remember those trains. The first train in the video was eastbound and it was taken at the east or (south) crossing at Canmore. Very little intermodal in those days...all grain, mixed freight and potash.

Thank you for posting this; it is great. No disrespect intended for the big GE'S that haul CP trains nowadays; in fact I think they are very cool. Having said that, seeing those SD40-2's certainly kindles some memories. Great job.

This was the best era for trains in Canada I miss the SD40-2's that did DPU West of Calgary to Vancouver I also liked how clean the majority of the Grain cars were before all the graffiti and vandalism made them unattractive

+Shahid Bhinder When the SD40-2s were the sole power people tended to regard them as uninteresting but now we miss them with all the AC4400s! Yes the grain cars looked good without graffiti.

And those grain cars that used to belong to Canada and its prairie provinces? These are now in the ownership of Canadian National and Canadian Pacific. And these can now be found more on CN's lines and CP's lines in the United States.

Do you happen to have any CP footage from Ontario in the 1990s like Toronto, London, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Carleton Place, Almonte, Peterborough and Havelock?

The GE AC4400's were only two to three years away from invading the network at this time
