Just to add depth. If you think the cruelty and oppression of the British characters in this movie are cartoonish and overly exaggerated then I would point out that of course not every British person was like that, but a lot were and certainly the institution of Imperial Britain was. My evidence would be Lt. Gov. Michael O'Dwyer, Gen. Dyer and the officers who thought the massacre at Jalianawala Bagh were measured and justified. Their mindsets, given their testimony, at the inquiry was not unique. They had devalued and dehumanised Indian people, men women and children. I would point also to the Rowlatt Act being the reward for India helping in World War 1 with resources and 1.78 Million soldiers (74K dead, 62K wounded). All for a war that wasn't theirs. About peaceful means rather than any means necessary, some would argue, in my opinion justifiably, that Independence could've been achieved much earlier if the Indians had guns and followed the American example during our war for independence.

Gandhi was fairly loyal to Brits for the longest time. British created congress so that natives can find a place to let the steam out. Gandhi was just the whistle of the pressure cooker. British left after Navy revolt. That was what that sealed the deal. In aftermath of WW2, they chose a public trial for the Indian National Army lead by S C Bose that lead to heightened public sentiment against them. That was followed by a navy revolt. Bengal famines had killed millions. Yet again. They had already exploited India to the max and borrowed from Indian coffers as much as they could in name of war ( with no intention to pay that debt back). In such a condition they didn't think it was profitable anymore to stay. By transferring power to their own loyal congress leaders, Britain managed to ensure safety of it's interests even after leaving. One thing you must credit them for is that they were great at political games.

In the end of the movie the people you guys saw are the one got us our freedom, it was not through non-violence which the world knows. Non- violence actually delayed our freedom, British knew they can not hold the revolutioneries for long after World War 2 the actual heros for India's freedom, so they played it that way, sadly because of some Indians British got a chance to show they left India for these non-violance show off political Indians. Later these political non-violence Indians became head of the state after indipendence and tried everything under their power to brush the real history behind Indian's Independence under the carpet and they succeeded as the world has very little idea about the real people who brought us Independence.

India didn’t get freedom because of Gandhi and non violence. The British decided stay in India even after the WW2(1945). Gandhi’s non violent Quit India movement was a failure culminating in 1942. Freedom being achieved due to non violence was a cover up the by first government of India to cover up the truth and to whitewash the crimes of the British. Freedom was achieved because of the revolt stirred up in The Indian military (navy) due to the news of Subash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army’s role in fighting the Britishers in WWII spreading throughout India.

-Slum dog is not an Indian movie..its a British movie and quite hated in India. -Indian history that Americans know is what the British wanted the world to know.India won freedom because of the revolutionaries.Not non violence which actually delayed it.The details are very complicated but the british had a lot to do with cultivating the Gandhi persona for the world and demonizing the revolutionary movement. -Hollywood borrows heavily from India without really acknowledging it.Eg.Avatar,Matrix,Starwars=foundation series+ Indian philosophy.This movie is influenced by Indian epics and philosophy.It’s not just a cool action film.It’s very symbolic.Bheem carrying Ram on his shoulders is inspired directly from Ramayana,the elements that represent them and how they come together, Bheem talking to the tiger,the flag used ..all of it.I guess it’s a matter of context.It actually has very little to do with American action films except superficially. -Also it is neither about Indian nationalism nor politics and class.It’s just that the British narrative of India which permeates the west today,Especially the Hindu narrative is poisoned beyond repair ( due to colonial religious bigotry…lots of evidence for that)where certain normal people wearing their normal attire immediately seem religiously conservative in the American socio political way..The real revolutionary who inspired Ram’s character actually dressed that way in real life.( Alluri Sita Rama Raju).It’s like saying if one wears a cross it’s a symbol of rising toxic nationalism in America. - Bheems character in hiding is Muslim because the Nizam’s (Islamic ruler and British collaborator of the area he lives in)men are looking for him.So that’s his best chance of avoiding capture.No ulterior motive to why he’s shown that way.. -Bheem’s character was more challenging to play than Rams character which had all the props that would make him attractive to modern esp .western audiences.Smart clothes,period western uniforms,brilliant Haircuts and grooming,sympathetic back story.Bheems character was a simple tribal guy and very difficult to etch out on film.Any lesser actor would have failed miserably at it and ended up making his character look like a sidekick.Kudos to NTR jr. on doing Bheem brilliantly.Though We like them both.:)))They were just perfectly selected for their parts. -RRR not getting selected is not political,it’s just another bad choice made by the Oscar jury in India like many previous decades. -And finally……the dance is not sped up😂.Indians are used to watching them dance at that speed in their other movies.That’s funny……

India didn't get rid of Britain because of Gandhi but because of Subhas Chandra Bose and his Army who was working its way to unite military officers of India to revolt against the British...And the British have lost enough resource in World war 2 and was scared that they will lose more if they don't leave India and got caught by BOSE armies...So they sign peaceful treaty with Indian politician and left as soon as possible...but then they made sure that by the time they left they made India divided through religious tension and break India into two i.e India and Pakistan and block India all trade route to prosper once again...But today's India outgrow British in terms of economy...It's all circle of life...They came to the richest country in the world, made us a third world country and now their economy is shattering while India is on its way to become the largest economy in the world one again.

@@seanpaulmurphy4447 non-violence is our key to success due to the power British is having and the influence the nation British is at that time.On that time if the freedom fight is turn to violence then British will need to accept the American or any other countries help to maintain the under control of india. Also many of our revolutionary freedom fighters which the movie credits at the ending song fought bravely against the British . India did not get independence due to GANDHI. The British Indian Army of 2.5M revolted against the British under the influence of Subhash Chandra Bose. So the British packed their bags immediately after this revolt. Gandhi was a piece of cake to handle for the British. Gandhi is more like a sulking baby mostly working against the benefits of the natives using his fasting on every violent incident and tying down the pious Indians. The Indians were capable of kicking the British out. But Gandhi prolonged their stay due to his misuse of naivety of many of the pious Indians

I think the difference in opinion of the sped-up dancing is being confused for lack of better wording. Two of the podcasters are television editors and I think they are referring to how some of the dance has an editorial frame/speed change - where the footage is slowed down (from a frame rate perspective, not from an actual performance perspective), but not from an actual speeding up of the actual film or the performance. When the footage comes out of that technique, it appears to move forward with even more energy, like it's getting bigger and busting out of the frame. However, the actual speed of dancing isn't changing. It's the frame rate of the speed of the film that the film is being shown that changes. I hope that makes some sense and doesn't confuse anyone more. Just my opinion. I can not love this film more!
@DrTiwade2 жыл бұрын

Hindus are Seekers and not believers!! there is a big difference! which is the reason for its survival over 50,000 years (lets not let bad parts of History repeat again, so we should not forget History .... and at the same time let's all move ahead together, as you said 👍)

@@gopsk4570 Get off whatever media you follow, you will understand its not all Balck n white as you just stated... There are extremist present in every community....and just by your comment I can tell you must be following godi media which is not your fault...I am just saying listen both sides and then make up your mind on your own....India should be known it's diversity and we all are fucking that up by making it Hindu vs muslim...if this go on at this pace...I mean after some years we'd ashamed of calling India a secular nation

@seanpaulmurphy44472 жыл бұрын
I believe it! That's the way it was in the old studio system too. Every actor was expected to know how to dance. Sadly, Hollywood doesn't care about dancing anymore, but I love it.

India didn't get freedom coz of Gandhi ..Gandhi just extended the pain ...we got freedom coz of freedom fighters like being shown in this movie ...also Subhash Chandra Bose who was monumental in indias freedom ...wrong history has been written about Gandhi .you never get freedom through peace and non violence against violent imperialists with guns, resources, power and absolute domination.
@nsn55642 жыл бұрын
Pleasexstop getting brainwashed by rightwing Hindu propaganda. The demonization of Gandhi and nonviolence to serve anti-muslim sentiments is pathetic.

come on that guy who said it was speeding up lol. This is not even their fastest dance. there are a bunch of fastest dances they did. it is just a simple dance they did for this song. and still, foreigners are going for those simple dance steps they did. watch more of their real dance songs you will realize what they are.

India as a whole has hindu culture since thousands of years. Abrahamic religions or culture are not native to India. Even Muslim and Christian communities still follow some form of hindu rituals. Even the zoarastrian community who came from Iran several centuries ago follow Hindu rituals. The film is based in 1920s and obviously it will show more of hindu culture and its a fact that the character wore saffron dress to personify Lord Ram in teal life to inspire the trials to fight the British. There is nothing right wing about the movie. And I don't know why western media thinks Modi is right wing when infant he is very modern and moderate. If he practices Hinduism he becomes right wing?
