In the classical Ramayana story,Rama gives Hanuman a 'Mudrika' so that Sita can identify that Hanuman is not an impostor and actually an ambassador of Ram. While there is a flip in this version where Sita gives the half piece of necklace to Bheem(Hanuman) to venture out and search for Ram. The overarching theme of Ramayana is so beautifully portrayed that I literally was in happy tears after the end of the movie.

One more thing to note is that Bheem can be considered as brother of Hanuman as both are children of the Wind god Vayu. This is the ingenuity of SS Rajamouli’s myth rework!

1. Having character of Sita is very important in the film because in the real story of Alluri rama raju his love sita dies then rama raju adds her name to his name and becomes alluri sita rama raju. So I felt there is scope to have charecter Sita in the film and it also completes the mythological subtext “Ramayan” 2. Look of Alluri sita rama raju as lord ram is not for some mass hype. It was the actual look of Alluri sita rama raju who fought with Britishers with bow and arrow so that was very important to show in the film. Few scenes that have left an impact on me apart from the obvious grandeur and epic ones are these 1. When Ram throws the sacred thread to catch Bheem. You can see the pain in Ram's eyes of betraying a friend and Bheem's anguish for being betrayed by a brother. Also, Bheem keeps on hitting him and Ram is just holding him from falling down and getting that beating as a form of penance. 2. When Bheem could easily kill Ram and I almost thought that he did. But Ram was even ready to die for his friend. He didn't resist. But Bheem couldn't kill him. What a lovely bond. 3. The scene where Ram whips Bheem. The emotions, the song, Ram's eyes, Bheem's courage.....That wa too much to take and it gave me goosebumps. 4. The scene where Ram realizes that the man he is searching for is his dear friend. 5. All the wingman sequence was adorable and fun. Things that bothered me. 1. Some of the white actors 2. The small girl in prison was shouting even when Bheem was telling her to be quiet. (I understand she is very small but I was like please please be quiet girl otherwise you both will die😅) 3. English dubbing but that is understandable Things that I decided to not care about because it is a fun watch 1. Action and physics. And once you let go of realism, those sequences are well-choreographed, edited, and presented. Things that I loved 1. Editing 2. Soundtracks and background score- Such powerful music. They invested a lot so that even the Hindi dubbed versions sound great and not just translated versions like Oo Antava song. Komuro BHeemam and Ramam Raghavam just stole the whole show. 3. CGI/VFX- I couldn't watch Bahubali in cinema halls so I don't know about that but this is the first Indian film of this scale which I watched in theaters and it was worth every penny spent. 4. Acting by Ram, NTR, Ajay, Alia, and most of the supporting cast. 5. The connection that this movie had with me. (Maybe because freedom struggle is too close to our hearts and watching something like that on screen was just mind-blowing.

1. With no offense to NTR jr. and his performance, purely from a context of Bheem's character having a huge physique and the raw physical strength to carry other people on his shoulders, I think Rana Daggubati would have fit the physical requirements of the character better. Maybe that would have made the jail escape sequence a bit more believable. 2. You mentioned in the non-spoiler review that NTR jr.'s acting felt over the top in a few scenes but it was actually on point. Bheem's character was meant to be an innocent, uneducated and emotional person who grew up in a tribe, people who wear emotions on their sleeve and with none of the sophistication of being subtle, sarcastic or indirect in communication that comes with living an urban life. These are people who are simpletons and are loud and exhibit their feelings without any filters. On that note, I think his acting was on point. 3. I realized after coming back home from the movie in the scene where Bheem carries and stocks up on meat when in Delhi and Ram thinks it is Bheem's huge appetite that is making him consume so much. But it was a subtle hint of the things to come - he was feeding the wild animals hidden in the basement. (Other smarter than me might have realized it in the first viewing itself but I realized it only as an afterthought once home). 4. Alia's and Ajay Devgan's sequence could have been more impactful had RRR been a two part film like Baahubali. Rajamouli is a master when it comes to emotional sequences and we all have seen how much he can connect the audience with even non-lead actors such as Anushka, Ramya Krishna and Sathyaraj's characters in Baahubali, so it is definitely the lack of time that is the main culprit here. There is no doubt about Rajamouli's strengths as a director/story teller and neither are Ajay and Alia under-performers(we know that they can carry films on their own shoulders in movies like Gangajal and Highway). 5. +1 to the negative point about the ultra fast healing times of Ram's character. Let's assume the natural herbs have medicinal properties that could have acted as an instant anti-dote to snake bites and can be excused. However, the knee injuries (and assuming broken bones) being gone overnight to the point that he can transform into a superhero after physical torture and being in a solitary cell is a tad bit too much. Maybe, they could have changed the script to indicate that the final climax sequence took a few days/months after the jail escape sequence giving ample explanation for the wounds to have healed. Edit: I also liked how certain sequences including(but not limited to) the opening sequence of the girl being taken away from her parents literally lacked any background score. The silence in such scenes made more impact than any unnecessary background score that could have literally killed the emotion. Kudos to Keeravani to even think of where not to have any unnecessary background score.

I understand the scene where ram escapes on bheem's shoulders might seem too far fetched to a casual viewer. But this seen wasn't meant for casual viewers. Rather it was meant for fans of Valmiki Ramayana. You see, in Valmiki Ramayana yuddha kand there's an exactly similar scene when Ravana is on chariot and a tired and injured Rama is still fighting on ground. At that pivotal moment Hanuman comes to Rama's aid , lifts him up on his shoulders, like Bheem lifted Ramcharan, and Rama showers a volley of arrows perched on Hanuman's shoulders stripping Ravan of his chariot, weapons and shield. And then he allows Ravana to run away. To me , Bheem lifting Ram on his shoulder and Ram rifling away was one of the most thrilling parts as it took me back to the memories of my Valmiki Ramayana study. And even in Valmiki Ramayana that scene was important because it is the first defeat that Ravana faces at the hands of Rama. Here too, this is the first time the brits are properly defeated when Ram & Bheem join forces. So I feel this action scene , was not a mass scene. Rather it was an intentionally placed scene for folks who have read Valmiki Ramayana. And it's not just a far fetched theory. Rajamouli himself has stated on record of how Ramayana & Mahabharat will always influence his cinema.

Agreed, the perspective changes with the second viewing especially with magnum opuses like Bahubali, RRR or for example Padmavat .first viewing is more about soaking in the extravagance, get emotionally drenched in the vision of the director and letting go of ,second viewing is like you already know the trip, so the perspective gets critical and the viewing experience is marred by the complexities of cinematic analysis. RRR is an emotional rollercoaster, the main leads are treated as superheroes and I guess the director triumphs on the ground that he presents exactly what the audience signed in for.. (the first scene where the British hunt in the forest- there are so many animals piled up.. it was a very sad sight to watch)

While every one was impressed by Ramcharan's performance and complexity in the character but for me its Jr NTR who stole the movie's emotional soul, I was mentally very much amused to see how NTR given perfect facial expressions like no other commercial actors. I felt like Rajamouli designed the best scenes for ram's character where he given absolutely bonkers like performance but....Jr NTR's performance is not quite easy to execute by many actors , he is surely one kind of actor who do not need to design scenes like Ram's character where NTR's USP is his acting skills, he knows how to give required balanced performance, expressions for the scene. And I 'am not a fan of both the actors but since childhood I have been watching every Tollywood movies as much as possible and luckily I know how NTR career has been and what kind of actor he is. Two points. 1) Alia Bhatt is cast as Sita because Alluri Sita Ram's wife encouraged him to complete his mission. She was not a fighter in the history too. The execution of RRR in terms of deifiying its protagonists and projecting them as demigods is in line with the near-mythical status they have attained over the ages in their region. The movie worked for me. It's not the the jaw dropping scenes that garnered claps, such as the pre interval scene, or the song; but rather the small things that leave an impact. SS rajamouli has perfected the art of creating magnanimous action sequences which are highly symbolic and at the same time subtle ones with the same overtune. I don't know if many people will remember this, but when Baba's (Ajay Devgan) camp is surrounded and the officer speaks through the megaphone about how they cannot escape, he is shot through the megaphone right into his mouth. It could have been a simple moment of getting shot, but Rajamouli had to add the subtext of being shot in the mouth (a tool he used to terrorize the camp) Ram's character had depth right from the beginning, but i enjoyed how even he grew through the story. Bhim's character seemed fleshed out and his story smoothly unfolded without much being said. And Taraks eyes. Lord what to say about them. He does have the ability to convey so much more through only them. The ferociousness as he faces the tiger, the sheer betrayal and hurt when ram hits him. Amazing Also, I totally agree how context makes it all clear and better in so many ways. You see Bhim carry the meat while the uncle jests whether that would be enough for him, and ram says "nazar mat lagao". It is a sweet sequence where you see Ram heart eye- Bhim, but then you realise that the meat was for the animals he had kept. The portrayal of Britishers as one dimensional is getting real old. The antagonist did not give me the chills I would have otherwise expected. However, i think the story is focused more about how Ram and Bhim meet and then work together. The antagonist is only a small obstacle in their way, and also a variable that brings them together. Yet a few other British characters, who were conflicted between following orders and their morals would have really closed this case. The climax however left me wanting for more. The film sort of raised the scale with time but faltered in the climax.

Anyone conversant with the history of Alluri Sitarama Raju would know that he had intentionally styled himself on Bhagwan Ram. The look of Ram Charan that we see in the climax is actually how Alluri's appearance was in real life. There is even a pic on the internet which shows his bullet-ridden body after he was captured and shot dead by the British. He is in the exact same look that has been portrayed by Ram Charan. So it was necessary to give a glimpse of that look in order to create hype for RRR. Especially since it was not a part of the very first promos of RRR and people had started questioning the accuracy and attention to detail of the character.

Surprisingly after that period, ram has become a warrior saint and started looting the local British police stations for the arms to be given to his unarmed soldiers( if I could describe them that way) and Bheem became educated and started several protests and revolts with slogans jal jangal and zameen. I really how well Mr ssr connected that where ram realizes that there more than a way to revolt against British due to Bheem and Bheem coming to know of the need to have knowledge and education and realizing the greater goal to fight back the British while all his life his tribe accepted the rule humbly. Well these may be subtle but enjoyed though. Well that was more convincing to me. The plot line the naive uneducated Bheem meets well educated ram outside his tribe and gets to each other, form a friendship and learn different things from each other and complement each other for their ultimate goal.

Can anyone imagine the level rrr would reach if it fleshed out the second half of the movie into a second movie and the climax was in the same level as the first half of rrr, rrr is only not comparable to bahubali because the story cannot be done in just one movie, if it was split into 2 movies and climax included many people fighting against British instead of just bheem and ram gives me goosebumps

The whistling and hooting in the theatre was adding to the whole experience. The filmography was so good, while the story was hardly average. The ram forest sence was the best. Absolutely. Actually ram charan ka character thoda easy laga mujhe compared to ntr's bheem, ram's character his just very simple A angry young man role he carried whole movie with same intense expression which was actually very good 👍 but what I am emotionally connected was bheem's character that innocence, rage and hopelessness, and also in komaram bhemudo song i literally cried his character stolen my heart what an acting by ntr💕💕💘 loved it

I see some nincompoops pitting RRR against The Kashmir Files. They are taking a dig at Kashmir Files stating that RRR's opening day collections crossed the lifetime collection of Kashmir Files. Do these imbeciles even understand concepts like budget and ROI? RRR needs that kind of opening considering its massive budget while Kashmir Files made on a budget of 15 crores has earned thrice the amount of the box office, becoming an unprecedented success. In any case, both films are cultural triumphs. Why indulge in absurd comparisons?

@@koolprince9301Can't compare that to this, there was approximately 21 movies before endgame, in which all the characters had already been set up and almost everyone had atleast one solo outing where their character s had been fleshed out which gave them the leeway to add so many characters in one movie and not bothering how much screentime each actor gets, and plus endgame was mainly about the original five Avengers

RRR showcased Velocette Bikes that were designed keeping mobility of soldiers in mind and they're known as featherweight bikes. They're designed as extension of bicycles. One could carry them easily on their shoulders to cross streams and the engines were easy two-stroke engines. The company came up with 350 CC and 500 CC engines as well.

the irony is that people seemlessly accept Avengers breaking any laws of Physics, but when a movie character ( which thought to have some super-power) from Indian cinema does the same thing they start looking for logic and physics. RRR is a cinematic master-piece. I grandness of the fight scene between Ram and Bhim among many others is still treating my mind and eyes even after 3 days. I am planning to watch this movie again sometime tomorrow. I didn't cry or had goosebumps when I watched Bahubali 1&2. But man, while watching RRR every 10 and 20 minutes there are moments where I had goosebumps. For me, RRR > Bahubali 1&2 combined

I think and I have studied Rajamauli sir has used two epics of mythology to create Bahubhali & RRR. Bahubali from Mahabharat RRR from Ramayana Let's see Bahubali: Bahubali- Pandavas Balala Dev - Duryodhan Katapaa - Bhishma Devsena - Draupadi Rajmata - Dritrashtra Now RRR In 1st half Sita is abducted- little girl taken to British Lanka 1st half Ram is caged in 2nd half in Lanka Bhim - Ram in first half, Hanuman in 2nd half to save Ram from Lanka Ram vachan given to father just like given in Ramayan to stay in exile till you find weapons. Character of Julie - Vibhishan to help Ram & Hanuman win over Lanka. Pendent worn by Ram & Sita symbolic of ring in Ramayan. These are my observations, I hope you can relate the way I have. Thank you.

Watched the movie2nd time and while watching I realised something that I didn’t on the first watch, so here it is… 1. In a way SS Rajamouli gave us our own variant of superheroes with their unique origin stories. Plus u can’t say that Bheem can’t pick up that bike just like that if you follow his journey throughout the movie and by the time that scene arrives it looks normal. 2. The parallel between Indian history and mythology was amazing throughout the movie 3. What a background score and all the songs throughout the movie serves some purpose to the story. ***************************************** Hats off to SS Rajamouli’s vision & the way he raised the level of Indian Cinema *****************************************
