RS6 Straight Pipe exhaust, resonator and center muffler delete

Deleting front resonators and center muffler with straight pipes. Sounds GREAT! Nice burbles, plenty of sound from outside the car, but from inside the car still has a quiet comfort mode and no drone.

Crazy story... Saw your car in my rear view mirror today and had to do a double take. Your wife came out of Ace Hardware, started it up and punched it on the road. Sounded great and convinced me to do the same when my car arrives in a few months.

Thanks for posting this. I've been going back and forth and back and forth on what to do when my C8 comes in next year. This is pretty convincing to go this route over the Milltek. I just want to confirm whether or not an H-pipe is necessary or not. Found one video on IG with this same mod but with an H-pipe. They only show it revving and no drive by shot though.

@@extrabolts All good points. And based on your research you're confident that the lake of an H/Y pipe won't cause any back pressure? If you upload more startup and launches with this setup I don't think anyone will be mad. ; )

Hey man, sounds great! One thing to keep in mind that was an issue with the C7, is straight piping the suitcase muffler. You may want to go back and get an H pipe or X pipe installed there instead of straight piped. When the valves are closed and the car goes to 4 cylinder mode you would actually be trapping it in there with the straight pipes. if you put an X or H it would allow air to pass through. I own a 2021 RS7 and had an C7 S7. I may not be doing a good job explaining it but just look into it. I plan on straight piping the resonators up front and X piping the suitcase muffler, just haven't made time for it.

@@switch9 nice! I talked to a tuner here who recommended just deleting the resonators to avoid abnixious drone. Maybe I'll do that first and see how I like it.

@@shaunald Yeah, I've seen videos with that setup and it sounds pretty good but not as aggressive as this. In comfort mode there doesn't seem to be noticeable drone. Going halfway isn't a bad approach either.

I like this option more than any of the aftermarket options I've heard. Very happy with it, although eventually once this car transitions from my wife's DD to my DD, I'll do downpipes for a little more sound

Yes my rear muffler with the flaps built in remains, other resonators were removed

Yes, I'll be going louder through downpipes, but for now I still like the quiet mode because I do a lot of highway driving so I want to keep the rear muffler and factory cutouts in place

Hi, I was thinking of buying an Audi RS7. First of all does the rs7 and rs6 have same exhaust from factory (so does it sound the same from factory)? And is this how it would sound in UK as we have OPF filters.

I do believe they are the same, but from what I understand your filters mute the sound. Haven't heard a filtered one in person though

On RSQ8, I went catless downpipes and removed the muffler at the end (along with the 3 resonators) It’s way too loud.

@@extrabolts I just did the exhaust modification yesterday and my RS6 sounds AWESOME!!!... What a difference a few deletions make? Thank you for the $450 suggestion vs the $10K Akropovic that I was considering.

I’d really prefer this approach than any other but absolutely do not want to put the warranty at risk. Do you have any sound clips you’re going to post to any of the FB groups or anything?

@@switch9 My Audi service manager confirmed that the mod would not hurt my warranty. But he did advise against any kind of tuning. I have no sound clips because my recording equipment would not accurately capture the improved sound. Nevertheless, it sounds like a slightly muffled Akropovic exhaust. Perhaps that's due to the sonic properties of titanium.

@@dexplorer1 Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. That is fantastic to hear. I've been meaning to reach out to my local service manager so this makes me much more optimistic. From what I hear in this video (the only straight-piped I'm aware of) it sounds much better than the Akra (with stock downpipes) in my opinion. On the other hand, the Akra with aftermarket downpipes and a tune is about as good as it gets! Cheers.
