I get more excited when I get a notification from a smaller channel (i .e. y’all) that makes high quality niche content than I do when I get a notification from a big channel that makes lackluster content. KEEP UP THE AWESOME VIDEOS!

A note about the outsert for the valve box. This outsert was made for the earlier model, MO-4 (EO-12 with ShM-41), where facepiece had only one valve for the air coming out. In beginning-middle 1950-s it was clear that double valve was needed. It was, for example, on the facepiece of civilian GP-4 (not GP-4u), but military masks still had only one. This was the reason for producing such rubber outserts with an extra valve for ShM-41 facepieces. In 1955-56 production of ShM-41M masks with longer valve box and two valves began

A very interesting note indeed, thanks for sharing this! I always wondered if the gasmask kits were equipped with outserts from production or if they were produced separately and then added to specific kits like KPZOs. It is hard to tell because the outserts are mentioned in the passport of the gasmask itself, even the EO-16 with double valves as you pointed out.

Thanks for the feedback! I always think of that while writing the scripts but then it always seems to me that if I start breaking acronyms down in Russian and English this might as well turn into either a complete pizdec or a linguistics channel. But you are right I will try to give more attention to that in a balanced way. Have a good one!

Hi, its me again... sorry that i have so many questions but could you (in the future) make a vid on the Bulgarian PG-1 gas mask? Because i want to learn more about it. My collection right now is only a gp5 and the pg1
@ProjectSparkPC
@ProjectSparkPC 5 ай бұрын
@@TEC-747 No problem, ask away! In terms of the PG-1, if I ever get it into my collection I will surely talk about it. As of right now, I can recommend the video about it on Samhain's Gas Masks channel. It is in Russian, but you could watch it with subtitles I guess. It is pretty informative.

Would you happen to have an idea on the specific name / designation for the officer's gas mask bag?
@ProjectSparkPC
@ProjectSparkPC 4 ай бұрын
I assume that it had some sort of a factory designation or name back in the day just like most items, but it is largely lost to history. At least it is not widely known and neither does it exist in the GRAU index system as far as I looked for it. It is widely referred to simply as "officer gas mask bag", "RSh-4 officer bag", etc. The stamp under the flap can reveal some information on the factory of origin for example, but it doesn't show an item name or designation unlike some other marked items. There isn't much more information I can provide you with from the top of my mind, but if you do research on this, I would to hear about it. Good luck xD

Mmmm amazing video comrade. I would really love to hear more about the asbestos. My personal opinion is the white asbestos used in these masks at such small percentage will do no harm to you. But the westerns always tend to be overly dramatic. Again if you have any info on it. Please do post a video very soon on it.
@ProjectSparkPC
@ProjectSparkPC 4 ай бұрын
I did some research on it and I am planning a video, hope it turns out well. Good point on dramatic westerners, I have over 50 horrified comments on asbestos piled up if am not mistaken.

@@ProjectSparkPC oh my. The only filters I would even think about be concerned about would be the bigger coffee can filters. But they appear to have less particulate layer than the typical gp-5 filter box.
@ProjectSparkPC
@ProjectSparkPC 4 ай бұрын
It's not about filter size and asbestos containing paper amount at all. What matters is the type of asbestos. Asbestos is a collective term for a wide selection of natural mineral fibers where some are genuinely dangerous (amphibolic asbestos) and others are no more or less of a threat than wheat flour (chrysotilic asbestos). The kind of asbestos mined in the USSR and used in filters is coincidentally the less dangerous kind (chrysotilic). I am not saying that old filters are 100% safe or better than modern ones, don't get me wrong. But there is a lot of important detail that one needs to consider before wrapping a Soviet filter in 5 layers of hazmat disposal packaging and taking it out to nuclear waste dumping ground. At the same time old western canisters that also contain asbestos are probably actually unsafe to wear because those most probably contain amphibolic asbestos.

@@ProjectSparkPC wow. That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the replies and in depth explanation! Yeah I was thinking of getting a gp-4 soon and everyone has been so dramatic about the huge filter. But from what I’ve seen, those filters look to have less of a particulate layer than a gp-5 filter box! But as you said, it’s white asbestos so it’s not gonna do much anything to you. Have also read that our bodies clear out white asbestos in a matter of days and hours. It’s all an interesting topic. I’m looking forward to see this channel grow and see more gas mask content. I’m also exited to see that uniform! Anyhow, until next time comrade!
