Most of these don't qualify as "You cost us the game" moments. Attempting a play and failing sucks, but the whole team could have played better to keep it from coming down to one play. He's got kickers making 55 yard attempts on here as if missing from that distance is all on him. Being a complete moron and throwing the opposing player's shoe... That qualifies. I think it needs to be a stupid and completely preventable action or it doesn't count.

Players would rather get on Sportscenter (even though no one has watched that in 20 years since the internet made it obsolete) than win a game. Fun fact...no game has ever been WON due to taunting or excessive celebration. By a huge number of games have been lost. And players keep on doing it. Several years ago, some asshole BEFORE THE SUPERBOWL said he didn't care if he would get called for a penalty and it cost his team, he was going to do his contrived, juvenile, overly rehearsed "spontaneous" touchdown celebration. In terms of magnitude of costing a team, 2010 K Kyle Brotzman of Boise State takes the cake. He shanked a chip-shot FG against Nevada at the end of regulation and another midrange one in OT. Boise would lose the game. Those misses cost Boise: 1) An undefeated season 2) A potential appearance in the National Championship Game 3) A BCS Bowl bid on any kind (because FBS has a hate-boner for mid-majors)
@Surreal_Wizard Жыл бұрын
This isn't exactly true. TCU, who was ranked ahead of the Broncos in the BCS standings, would have gone to the Rose Bowl instead of Boise State regardless of the outcome of that Nevada game. The 'Frogs were ranked higher in the standings and would still have been the at-large selection; it's unlikely that BSU would have jumped them (unless it had been a blowout win.) Nonetheless, the 2011 BSU-TCU game shown here was actually not as bad as the 2010 BSU-Nevada game, as the attempt was from a much longer distance than the chip-shot FG attempt in 2010. Both missed FG's did cost the Broncos an undefeated season, however.
