Having once been the recipient of an inopportune "thumbs up" after nearly baring my soul, I almost spit out my coffee from laughing after hearing about Ryan's online interaction with the teacher. It's a gut punch, but at least it gave birth to a good story 😁
@8thlvlMage8 ай бұрын
I would just take comfort in that it's probably an older person (as in this story) just doing their best to communicate with technology they don't quite understand. Those of us who grew up online are aware that "culturally" a thumbs up emote is a bit dismissive in most cases. That's like when I text my dad "Those fish you caught are huge!" and he replies back "Yep." 😄

Growing up we were learning English Russian and Ukrainian all at one time it was very hard but someone showed him will Sasso and the ten minute podcast and he would laugh so hard and try to explain to us did not speak English why he was laughing and it was funny trying to watch him explain to our friends and family that did not speak English why my cousin is on the floor crying in tears. I think a big part of dealing with depression is just letting others know it has nothing to do with them, not their fault (even though our mind might want to go there), and that there's not anything they need to do but give space and be there when we ask.
