I visited srilanka in 2011. Then too the kadirgamam temple was like most other temple in the background of a Buddhist temple. The priest said that we are not allowed to see the deity and that is prohibited. Our passports were checked at many places. I rarely saw any temple that was standing without a Buddhist monument in the foreground. Can you imagine this happening in India?

Though Kathirkama temple deity is Lord Murugan, this temple is managed by Sinhalas. One special feature here is that you cannot see the deity, as it is behind a screen. The priest also is a Sinhalas. There is another Hindu temple in the same compound. This is managed by Hindus.
