I love my Honda E, which was my second EV after owning a Model S for 8 years! Here are my thoughts: 1. Wing mirror screens are great but the rear view mirror is no good if you need reading glasses! (Luckily you can turn that off). 2. It’s roomy, comfortable , great to drive, nippy, comfortable on the motorway. 3. It could be quieter, but it’s not too bad. 4. The air con is very aggressive. 5. Wireless Apple Car Play is great. 6. The driver’s seat height adjustment could do with one more control. It can be tricky to get it exactly where you want it. 7. The boot is tiny. 8. The range is fine - if you regularly need to go further get a different car. 9. The driver aids (warnings) and adaptive cruise control is good (if sometimes annoying). 10. The one pedal driving is great. Rarely need to break. 11. It’s overpriced.

@@maxflight777 I did. My Model S was from Aug 2014 so the warranty was about to expire ( later this week in fact). I did not relish the idea of having a £30k car that could be rendered useless by a drivetrain or battery failure. Neither of which would have been a feasible repair. Why not get a model 3? A couple of reasons… but mainly because I would never buy from Tesla again. Poorest service of any car maker in history. (It wasn’t always that way.)

I have a 2022 top spec model Leaf, it has exceeded my expectations at every turn and I love it. I have never suffered from range anxiety because I adjust my travel plans to take charging into account. A recent long trip to see friends went without any problems, we got to our destination which was 200 miles and put the car on charge while we had coffee and cake, it was fully charged by the time we were done, the return journey was as uneventful as the drive down. An EV suits my driving needs perfectly and I'll never go back to and will never go back to an ICE. I looked at the Honda and love the shape.....well everything but the wait for delivery was too long. Great video......

I enjoy your road test and perspectives and looked forward to this opinion. Unfortunately we won't be seeing these in the states but I really liked these. Obviously, I like the Mini EV as well but I went the cheaper route picking up a 2016 Chevy Spark EV with EPA range of 82 miles. As you said as long as you select these shorter range EVs with the right knowledge for it's use, these are perfect cars for first EVs, 2nd family vehicle and retired folks. Also as you mentioned these are fun and fairly zippy cars so taking them out for shorter trips is fun. Keep up the good work great informative videos.

On the hottest day on record, 40.3C at Coningsby, nearby in Lincolnshire. I achieved 4.6 miles per kWh in my Mini, so I’m well impressed with this. I feel that if I had been rapid charging, the Mini would have done better than the Honda e. It usually pulls almost the full 50 kW upto 85%.

Price is it's Achilles heel. Honda's engineers and designers made a great car that, genuinely, I don't think their corporate high ups and accountants wanted to sell. They've priced it out of the market and I can't account for that otherwise, considering that other, bigger, longer range cars can be bought for much less. Such a crying shame.

I've got a honda E, and I am fully aware of climate change and I'm not one of those idiots that denies it. but the offset of an EV compared to a smaller engine petrol or diesel car is negligible at best. It really doesn't make a difference in the long run to the environment and that will all become very apparent when thousands of us need new batteries in 5 or 6 years time. Please dont take this as a personal attack, the rest of the video is great. Just think its not right to say that EV's as they currently are will save the world. The reason 90% of people buy them is either for a tax write off, or because of the price of fuel, 10% or less will buy them for environmental reasons.

I always think with new lft batteries on the way that are lighter, more energy dense meaning less weight and more range the small hatch will soon have its EV day. Second gen MINI SE doing 250 real world miles would be a good start and I’m sure Honda are already working on the second gen Honda E. It does look very retro mk 1 golf to me. The Honda E isn't designed for or intended to be a long distance cruiser. It is primarily intended as a high end city commuter vehicle. Keep within that context, and it's highly successful...... It has sufficient range to undertake the UK's 20.8 mile average daily commute for a full 5 day working week, without needing to recharge.
@tesla-spectre
@tesla-spectre 2 жыл бұрын
@@Brian-om2hh I know that, it is obvious. All I say is that I find it quite expensive for such a short range, considering that the battery is by far the most expensive component. So a very small battery means that its share in the overall cost is much lower. Before the crazy price jumps this yr due to the energy crisis, a basic Model 3 SR+ was at pretty much the same price tag but with about 2.5-3 times real world range. and electric seats etc which the Honda surprisingly seems not to have - at least the one in this test. I just think they overdo the price quite a bit on this one but it is stylish!

The tiny range of this car compared to similarly priced competition makes this car totally useless. People at Honda simply did not use their brains. With the mini electric perhaps even worse. We went with Fiat 500e at the end of the day and best decision - fantastic build quality and easily achieve 200 miles per charge in city driving conditions and around 170 on the motorway at 60mps average motorway speed. For less money and arguably better build and much better looking car. But it is the 500e range compared with the other two mentioned that truly kills them.

Oh, and Honda quoted 100kW charge speeds but real world is barely 40kW! It has been a sales flop as hardly seen any in the real world and it is now other-worldly expensive.Almost £40k?! Price is too high and efficiency is just too low. Shouldn't be using more KWs/mile than a large family saloon when it's a small city hatch. I think Honda tried to cram too much tech into it and those computers are sapping energy away from driving about. Fine for purely London driving or any urban driving, but from experience with EVs this would be a killer on an important drive like trying to catch a flight at Heathrow where it's over 100 miles to get there and you don't want to leave it empty while parked. The price is a big problem too, it's £38k and no amount of kit justifies that for a 35KW pack. It's only £4k less than a Model 3 SR+ which goes almost 300 miles and has way more advanced autopilot features and tech in general. I mean, actually from inventory right now, there's Model 3s around £38.5k as they prepare for the updated 2024 model. With being the case, this is an instant no from me. +efficiency +battery pack size to closer to 40KW -the cluttered tech dashboard -£££ and they have a winner here though. Bring on the Mark II!

Why is it that I charged my i3s on that very day at 39c and got 49kw up to 84% before tailing of gradually to 95% before falling of a cliff in 35 minutes. The battery temp was 36c must be the liquid cooling on the i3s is more efficient than on most cars I see reviewed? Conversely in winter I still get around 46kw to 82% when ioniq 5 owners are crying Foul getting 26%

Again this is a compliance car for Honda. It feels like and EV killer to drive people to ICE vehicles. It is very oddly designed.

I will not buy a car that gives me a disclaimer (or whatever you call it) every time I enter it. Feels like those annoying cookie accept boxes. 😀

It's not retro - watch here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5bVlmZ6hbabock And driving in flip-flops should be banned. You need proper shoes to apply the necessary force on the breakpedal just in case.

Not really a shocker that Honda built an overpriced mediocre EV. Their ICE vehicles are way more profitable for them. Plus their dealers are less enthusiastic about selling EVs because they require less service and maintenance compared to ICE vehicles.

Honda stopped production as it was a almighty FLOP. Sold 12000 in 3 years 😢😢. Body design by a budding 5year old. 😅😅😅😅. Lousy lousy range with no claim being a hot hatch. Then the silly extortionete price asked . Complete flop ,stupid honda . Probably ended costing Honda 200, 000 pounds per car sold . They now know at honda the e title really meant e for e mbarrassment 😂😂😂😂😂
