I see this is for renewal but what about for first time? Is it the same or similar?

Hi, yes this is for the renewal of your blue card. The first time you would take a practical test and a theory test at the place where you do the course. If you pass them you get your red card which lasts for 2 years. Then you can get your blue card which lasts for 5 years. That initial theory test is more like an interview with your trainer as far as I know. He will ask you questions and you reply with the answers. :) Hope this clarifies it

Question 12 is Wrong , the answer should be "C" and not "D"

This is from the official RT17 Factsheet: "Where the operator notices a fault or is unsure whether the machine is safe to use, any fault or defect must be reported immediately with the telehandler placed out of service in the meantime.... Although an operator may decide that the fault is minor and the telehandler can be used, they may not be sufficiently qualified or experienced to make that judgement." So to me it sounds like the operators are involved in the maintenance decisions. Their experience could help them discover and report the defects.

@@BlueCardRenewalMockTest With FULL respect , both you and i know that Operators can identify most faults serious/non serious and we have driven them at times when situations arise even though we have been right/wrong but the OFFICIAL answer to this question is to Park it Up, we all know most of the time its Bullshit but thats the answer they want when on Tests, i was asked this a few years ago and also recently when i did my Blue Card Renewal

@@Elmwood-ze3cr I appreciate your respectful reply :) And I agree, if one of the asnwer options were along the lines of "PARK IT UP" then that should be the correct answer. However, I still believe that the correct answer to this specific question about why operator qualification and experience are important in assessing faults should be "C) They can accurately determine the severity of the defect." Here's why: Option C means that experienced operators can judge how serious a problem with a machine is. They can tell if it's a minor issue (like perhaps a windscreen wiper making noise - you can still call to get that fixed but can drive it in the meantime) or something more serious that needs attention ASAP. (like a leak - park it up) Option D ("Operators are not involved in maintenance decisions") doesn't directly address how operators assess problems. While operators might not make final decisions on maintenance, their ability to spot and report issues is crucial for safety. So, in the context of the question about assessing faults, option C ("They can accurately determine the severity of the defect") is the better answer because it focuses on the operators' ability to understand and report machine problems based on their experience. You may get a follow-up question along the lines "What should you do if you spot a --specific-- fault?" Then your answer could be to "report and park up" I hope I haven't made this too complicated :) Anyways I do appreciate the discussion. Maybe this question would never even come up on the actual test.
