Done dirty by everyone, including Nintendo. Nintendo didn't really bother to give developers the documentation on how to develop for the Wii U, so every dev had to figure it out themselves. So every Wii U game is a mess of barely held-together with tape spaghetti code.

In regards to the point about "adult stuff", I have constantly gone back and appreciated things that are aimed for children, and for the most time I enjoyed them far more than the things aimed for "adults" because those usually devolve into sexual and violent themes which just gets dull and annoying after a while, and I think that's why stories aimed for kids or a young audience in general have an overall better quality than most "serious" series and movies nowadays, because they can't rely on the same tropes that these shows can, and that forces them, in a way, to come up with original and imaginative narratives, where, when they actually put an adult joke or a serious moment, it actually feels earned and incredibly impactful, the most recent example is the puss in boots 2, a masterpiece that mixes deep questions about the meaning of life and death, and the sheer fun of a bunch of wacky characters interacting with each other

I think it also has to do with the increasing monetization and commoditization of stuff geared towards adults. Companies want to wring their customers out of every cent, and that whole mentality gets really draining after a while.

its interesting because im kind of the reverse but also kind of the same its like, all the stuff i like is just kinda _dark_, way too dark for something directed at kids but at the same time its also... not really found in most things for adults its like, everything, even the stuff for adults, has the fucking disney ending "happily ever after" bullshit where you always know how its going to end, theyre all afraid to have something that has actual _weight_ stuff like action movies act like theyre edgy, they go "hehe adults only :3", but theyre still too fucking scared to actually get _dark_, theyre too scared to have a story where the protagonist doesnt magically win in the end and stuff for kids probably cant have that (i mean, it probably would hurt for someone thats not used to dark shit) ...but stuff for adults is even worse, because most adults are afraid to even _acknowledge_ the existence of dark stuff, they dont want something to remind them that life doesnt always have a happy ending
