From an O/O to another, always buy or lease your own truck then bring it to the company you want to work for. This way you're in control if you decide to move the truck. Also you're mostly in control of your fix expenses.

Love these videos. Talking with RTI recruiter now about possibly doing a LP. RTI fsc is actually quite low compared to some others. Namely Artur who is currently at a fixed $.50/cpm. That being said RTI has a much better program and appears to be a better thought out system than I’ve seen elsewhere.

Perfect, do you think that an APU is waste of money? I understand the escrows payments! But why do we need to make those payments for 10 wks/12 wks if we’re already paying 0.10 a mile for maintenance! I’m confused!!! Do you have any idea/information about the drop & hook Target account? Good luck with the Mizkan account, I wish you success in the trucking industry. And again, I appreciate your time & your replies, be safe brother, thank you
@shadowtrucker2102 жыл бұрын
@Tintin Milou I wouldn't say that they are a waste of money. It's more just a personal preference at the end of the day. They are great for controlling the temperature when you're stopped, especially in places where idling isn't allowed. The optimized idle does work, but it's definitely not the best. You have to toy with it a bit to figure it out, which is annoying in the wintertime. However, they do work great in the summer months. The reason I didn't want an APU is because of the maintenance they require and the amount of space they take up under the bunk.They also add a couple thousand dollars to your payments. I am interested in trying out the EPU though. Those 2 escrow accounts that we are required to pay into aren't for truck maintenance. They are for in case we decide to quit the company, or switch to the company side of the house and give the L/P truck back. They will use those escrows to pay for any damage that we may have caused to the truck. If the damage exceeds the amount of the escrow account, they will take it out of your next/final pay check. If it exceeds that, you will be required to pay the excess. As for the target account, I don't know much. I know they run a LOT, and it is harder to take time off for vacations since their schedules are a little crazy. With that being said, you will make a lot of money as well because of how many loads you'll be moving. If you don't like taking time off and just want to run, that would honestly be a great account for you. Thank you for the well wishes. I wish you good luck as well.
@tintinmilou55622 жыл бұрын
You’re the best brother, I never knew about the EPU but now I do thanks to you. I drive a 2020 Freighliner using the optimized idle interior comfort, not a big fun of it but it works. I heard good stuff about Target account & I don’t mind driving those miles. As long as I’m able to work 9 months on (Mar to Nov) and take off 3 months (Dec-Jan-Feb) I don’t know if it’s an option on a lease purchase! 3700$ would cover those 3 months truck expenses! For the escrows, it makes sense and I appreciate you explaining it. Again, thank you so much brother and stay safe
@shadowtrucker2102 жыл бұрын
@Tintin Milou A lot of people actually don't know about the EPU. They're still pretty new. I haven't heard anything bad about them yet. I'm not a fan of the opti-idle either unless it's summertime. During the winter, I run my bunk heater at around 75°-78° and the opti-idle just provides supplemental heat if it is still too cold... or I'll turn the bunk heater up. It can be turned up to 93°. Hmm.. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that. I would call and ask just to make sure, but if you already have money set to make the payments for those months, then they will probably let you do it. They might want you to leave your truck on the company lot during those months though just in case they have to do any work to it.

I'm thinking about going to RTI for the lease purchase program to get a truck. I've been in my trucking career for 22 years now and still going strong. I've tried couple of these lease purchase programs with other carriers and they made it sound great but once I got into those leases, they lied and really did not care about the drivers at all. You've said you did the lease purchase for your current truck through RTI.. Please tell me your thoughts and opinions about RTI as a company and their lease purchase program. I'm trying to get as much info and honest opinions before I leave this current company I'm driving for.

They take advantage in putting the illusion to the driver in thinking that the truck is yours, go over 72mph and you will get a call from safety bothering you in why you went over the speed limit, it's all mega carriers BS,stay away from lease, your working for free,do the math.
@shadowtrucker2102 жыл бұрын
@Rico Gonzo The second you said company driver, everything else went out the window. You have 0 expenses as a company driver, so you can not compare pay at all. And ours is done at pay per mile, not percentage of the load, so again you can't compare pay. And expenses don't match for everyone. It all depends on what truck you choose, the payment plan you choose, the maintenance plan you choose, etc. And this company doesn't lure anyone to lease. They actually recommend drivers go company drivers first until they are absolutely sure they are ready to try the lease program. They also don't give you the illusion that the truck is yours. They tell you it will be yours IF you finish the term of the lease. They are also completely up front about all of your expenses. They give you COMPLETE breakdowns of everything in orientation and answer any questions in depth. You may have had bad luck with companies that you went to, but that doesn't mean they are all the same. I have researched this company for a long time and can't find any reason not to do the L/P program.
