700 for tuner, good performance long tubes(kooks or American racing) with high flow cats with midpipes.. looking about 2500 plus 1250 for labor/installation so around $4k. And cam with internals about 2k. 6k for a really really damn good cammed, longtube headers, tuned 5.7 😊

Long tube headers will increase your high rpm numbers. But, you may lose some power off idle. Depends on what size your primary pipes are. So, basically if you plan on revving the engine. You will see more gain. Shorties will be better for a relatively stock engine. Long tube will greatly benefit engines with a bigger cam, higher flowing heads, tune. Or if you go forced induction. Long tube is the way to go.

For those 5.7 guys who would LOVE longtubes BUT either California or warranty look into the 392 or Hellcat exhaust manifolds and downpipes. They are nothing more then midlength headers and if their cats can flow 500-700hp they'll do just fine on your 5.7. I have these on my 16 R/T and because they are Dodge parts they won't void your warranty and do to my investigation they also will not void an extended warranty from Mopar. I have the 10 year 100k mile warranty and it's still in force and nothing voided or any issues with these manifolds. I wasn't able to dyno prior to their installation but on my 16 after being stuck in traffic on a 96 degree day my car put down 357 rwhp and 370 rwtq with just the exhaust manifolds and downpipes. I run a Solo catback but that doesn't do much except sound. I've talked with a gentleman who works for the company who makes the 392/Hellcat manifolds and he claims they are tuned midlength headers. Now I'm not sure how much they're tuned but they're a great mod, direct bolt on, 50 state legal, won't void your warranty or Mopar extended warranty mod.

I’d like to see you review a manual challenger 👍😁.... I have JBA shorties with flowmaster outlaws. Along with a 270 cam and custom dyno tuned all in one package. Stock 3.90 lsd, all 6speed manuals come with that gear ratio. Before I was stock besides messing with some diablo canned tunes. I really didn’t want to bother with email tunes and revisions on a stock 5.7 set up “no headers or cam” just too much involved for very little its definitely a beast now pushing 429 to the wheels revving out to 6800 easily. If I had long tubes I’m sure I’d get to 440 wheel on a dyno. Really tho custom dyno tunes with a cam and headers get you real gains, email tunes not so much. I didn’t go long tube due to clearance, I’d hate to scrape it or bust a weld on a bump. Longtubes sound great but for now I kept my cats on.

that what my plan is - long tubes... however I wonder if when can pass emissions... btw - what brand did he say again, the headers?
@RTLife5 жыл бұрын
It's all about the cats - you can get long tubes but you need a game plan for those cats. He has JBA I believe
@venomhemi39145 жыл бұрын
@@RTLife awesome I was thinking about high flows cats as well. And you said you definitely felt the power of the long tubes on the top end when you were driving? Thanks RT

Yes there is a difference between the 2 - now remember I only had shorty headers with flowmasters. He has a complete exhaust setup
@shadowdriftstl44 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure it will pass emissions with no cats unless you do a hot emissions and inspection test but most people keep the stock cats and throw em on for testing then take em back off.

So he got Track mode with the Tazer on a RT ? So it makes a difference what year it is, meaning the RT has to be a 15-18 or can you get it on a 13 ?

I have a 15 & he has a 16. Both of us were able to get it to work

I was kinda shocked when he said his intake air temps were 10-15 above the outside air temperature. I have the hellcat air box intake through the inner headlight, and I’m only 3-5 degrees higher than the outside temperature. When I’m driving it’s 3 over. It only gets to 5 over when I’m stopped in traffic. What temps does everyone else run????
@RTLife5 жыл бұрын
I think about about 10-15 above as well with the corsa at idle - moving only a few degrees
@andrewwalter48844 жыл бұрын
It needs to be shielded it’s a gorgeous intake but it’s only running so low because of the hood scoop. Shield it and the 5° difference is normal
@neilhettig96563 жыл бұрын
The hellcat airbox is all you need, there isn't anything out there I've seen that beats it. My 392 sits at 5-10 above ambient while I'm moving. At idle it soaks like crazy of course buy as soon as you get moving that open headlight does its job.

Thats a hot air intake. Not sealed from engine compartment heat. A major problem with aftermarket so called CAI.

Hey I wanted to ask, when your going from Stock headers to Shorty headers, did you have to change the spark plugs as well ? Or is that not necessarily to do so?

370+ crank HP - when they go on a dyno they're around 330whp. There is a loss from engine to ground.

Appreciate any input from anyone. What do you think about shorty headers with the stock exhaust? Will it cause more drone? How about the power gains? Most people get a cat back first but I want to get the shorties first.
@RTLife5 жыл бұрын
If you're going to the drag strip or building a racer go long tubes. if you daily or regularly drive your car & just want more of a punch off the line & acceleration ramps go shorty. I went shorty & gained identical numbers in torque and about 15whp less then long tubes. for me it was 1/2 the price
@bonkant65845 жыл бұрын
R/T Life yeah I already decided to go shorty but I’m just wondering how it will work I’m with the stock cat back. I don’t really want to buy an aftermarket catback but I also want the performance gains of the shorties. I just want to know if the stock catback combined with the shorties will cause drone or will limit the performance gain.
@DonnySRT5 жыл бұрын
Shorty headers actually lessened the drone on my car!
@bonkant65845 жыл бұрын
DonnyR/T was this with a stock catback or aftermarket?
@DonnySRT5 жыл бұрын
@@bonkant6584 It was with aftermarket mufflers and the resonators taken off. With the stock exhaust, I honestly think the chance of you getting drone is close to impossible

Where did he get that strut tower from? And is the hellcat exhaust better than the scat pack? Or is it about the same
@RTLife5 жыл бұрын
You should hit him up on IG - not sure if there is a massive difference between the 2 exhausts.
@Jetlifeual5 жыл бұрын
Scat is 2.75" and Hellcat is 3.0", sound difference is negligible in my opinion. Strut tower is from Drake, I found it used on Facebook Marketplace.

Yes you should retune - you're likely going to run lean while at full throttle. Also you may get a check engine light if not retuned.
