RTP1 is the main television channel of Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, the Portuguese public broadcasting corporation. It is Portugal's first channel and was found in 1957 by Radio e Televisao de Portugal (founded in 1935 as Emissora Nacional). For a brief period, it was known and marketed as RTP, I Programa, and RTP Canal 1. RTP1 has a variety of programs, composed mainly of news and talk shows, sports, current affairs, national and international fiction, such as films and TV series. Unlike sister channel RTP2, RTP1 broadcasts commercial advertising, which, along with the license fee, finances the channel.

Logo 16 is legendary! When I lived in the UK I was heavily into tv-dx. I had huge antennas on a mast in the garden and regularly received RTP during the summer months. Signal unfortunately was weakest when the channel started and I never got to get a good colour signal. To finally see it in all its glory is fantastic!

Fun Fact: the logo at 11:05 is used as a thunbnail for a RTP2 program in the NOS cable.

​@@JontyMasterbtw, new logos have been found. There was a 1955 logo, 2 new 1956 logos: One was like BBC and the other more like the early 1957 logo. Footage for the Spring 1983 logo was found as well.
