Oh Marlo, in his last moments, he was thinking about Hitch. The tragic part was when he was wondering "why?". Poor guy was in love...but now he's dead. Levi cutting up the Beast Titan was so damn satisfying! Though the look on his face later when that quadrupedal titan saved him and was running away was absolutely heartbreaking. "Reiner...Come out!" Hange coming in with the surprise support and Mikasa dealing the last blow, just fantastic overall! How fitting in the way the Colossal Titan was defeated. Everything has come full circle! It all started with him in Shiganshina and now it ends with him in Shiganshina. And Eren was the one to deliver the final blow! Back in S1, he wasn't able to but with Armin's sacrifice, he was able to this time. Like Erwin's charge last episode, Armin getting burnt to death was hard to watch. And like Erwin, Armin had to give up his dream and die to save humanity. It made his last conversation with Eren that more heartbreaking. He knew what he had to do but tried to reassure Eren anyways that they'll both see the ocean together. Episode title is "Hero" but honestly, there's so many brave heroes all around!

Yea, but the experience of watching it via anime is that much greater - the surprises are that much sweeter, its not enjoyable watching it with a "manga reader", they constantly display reactions that don't match the setting because "they know". On top of that, some of them display this condescending behaviour simply because they've read the manga. So, i'd vote this fella out because his smile while armin was "dead" tells the world that no - he isn't dead, something will happen - maybe the serum, maybe the colossus, who knows - regardless its not entertaining to those that are enjoying the show. Its awkward, smiling while a toon is dead. C'mon.

I nearly dropped AoT after this one. It took me some talk with a friend because Armin is my favorite and I just had to watch him burn for like a minute, it was like this show stabbed me in the back and invited me to leave. I genuinely have never felt so _betrayed_ by a work of fiction, I cried from the moment Armin said he would never see the sea until minutes after the outro (which is also emotional AF). It was an amazing episode , though.

It was _the way_ he died that made me feel betrayed but I wouldn't leave hating the show or anything. When this happens I take breaks but I always return for a good story. I simply wasn't ready to lose Armin at that point because I was so confident he'd live as he, in fact, did. :-D

It’s funny. Last time, Eren tried him and failed, the Colossal destroying his world once more and then vanishing without punishment. It felt like the only way for Eren to take him out and for it to have that satisfaction was to take him out with his blades. Any other way, like Levi doing it or Mikasa or Eren in his Titan form would have had a much less impactful outcome. But with this? It just sits well with me. Also, he pulled him out and gave him that look that said, “After five years....” maaaaaannnnnn, what a good episode.
