Actually Norman is the smartest or the most genius kid in all of them. If you see in the first episode when the demons have the list of norman, emma and ray. Only Norman has the full marks in all test while Ray and Emma would get a little lower than Norman in some tests.

What i love about this plot twist is that it fills every requirment for a plot twist down to the T. Its an outcome that we NEVER saw coming, but literatlly all the clues we needed to realize it was him was right in front of us the entire time. Ray has always been a guy who looks out for himself, so of course he already had the motive to be a spy. He was unsuprised about the fact that theyre on a farm, and he has the mental capability to be the snitch. and after thinking about after watching this episode, Noman jabaited Ray into revealing himself

norman was checking on everyone from the beginning, on ray as well. norman pretty much told ray that he told guilda and don about the ropes but in reality he never told them about it, so only ray knew about the ropes.

This anime does a fantastic job at subverting expectations moment by moment. So many twists, one minute your think one thing the next your trying to keep up because there are 5 new thought or twists. Also Emma is really smart too, not just be its stated but she think about everybody else ways Norman and Ray don’t

I remember that I watched the anime a year ago when my brother suggested to me, it was so catchy that I read the lastest chapter of the manga, and definetely I can make sure this is one of the best series I've ever seen. At the same part and am trying to avoid all spoilers !!! But from this episode I think the reason she doesn't want Krone to Target the kids is because she doesn't believe that Krone would see the bigger picture because of her greed. If you give them the illusion of being able to escape you can make their brains even smart than before by making them solve something so impossible for a normal brain therefore they will truly be worthy of the boss as a meal

I think the director just wants to make monologues more palatable. Internal monologues are plenty in anime, and sometimes it works, but other times it feels like cheap animation cuts. As a manga reader, I think the change was visually great, and it made for a more interesting show overall.
