Situation Briefing on the Effects of Super Typhoon Carina and the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon in Rizal Province

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues to oversee and lead the government’s comprehensive relief efforts in areas affected by the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina and enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) as he presides over a situation briefing at the Municipal Building of San Mateo in the Province of Rizal on July 26, 2024.
The Province of Rizal experienced widespread flooding and damages to livelihood and infrastructure after heavy downpours brought by the weather disturbances last June 24, 2024. This forced thousands of residents to flee their homes and take shelter in designated evacuation centers, which also prompted local government units (LGUs) to declare a State of Calamity, particularly in the Municipalities of Cainta, San Mateo, Taytay, Morong, Rodriguez and Angono.
Anchored in a whole-of-government approach in addressing the effects of the Super Typhoon and habagat to the lives of many Filipinos, President Marcos Jr. ordered the concerned agencies to cater to the needs of all LGUs that suffered the most impact from ‘Carina’.
Heeding the President’s directive, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has implemented a price freeze on various goods and commodities in areas under a State of Calamity, namely Regions III, IV-A and the National Capital Region (NCR).
Likewise, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) issued an order to expedite the allotment of proper fundings for the release of relief packages intended for the affected LGUs.
