Consoles were holding back games for about a decade. It takes a RTX 4070 Ti/super just to get 60fps at 1080p on Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing on. And that's a 4 year old game. Pretty sure every channel went on about how dumb getting a 30 series card was because of how over inflated the prices were at the time. the 3060 is a budget card on par with a $200 RX 6600. It's was advertised as a 1080p card. Don't buy the lowest end card possible and expect a decade of use anymore. Honestly the 1080p performance seemed pretty playable on this video. You could have bought a 6700 XT or 6800 for the same price as a 3060 when they came out( both better cards). Popular doesn't equal good.

This game runs horribly on console ATM check out digital foundry's scolding review of its performance. I personally have a 6700XT and have been getting 1% lows of 40's in city areas targeting 1440p mostly high settings. It's more than playable but I speak here for the average consumer based off steam survey data. Regardless... Popular = What studios should consider if they don't want their port to be a commercial flop. It's as simple as that. They have encountered a PR nightmare with influencers like Cr1tikal getting millions of views lambasting this game. I have enjoyed this game so far, but it is simply not optimized well.

The RE Engine is NOT optimal for open areas (which this game obviously has a lot of). It was originally made for Resident Evil and DMC games, which take place in small cramped areas. Performance takes a huge hit as soon as you have a larger map with more NPCs around (like in RE4's village). How can I understand their engine more than Capcom themselves is beyond me. I guess they just didn't give a f.

Game is not optimized for ray tracing. DLSS makes the game look significantly worse with nary an improvement in frames. In some areas your fps will not even benefit from DLSS. Best way to run this game for my RTX 3090 was to max everything out, disable DLSS, disable ray tracing. With that the game looks good and manages to hold 50-70 fps with occasional drops here and there. Game is a 9/10. Performance is a 4/10. Seeing as it looks like a game from 2018-19 at best, it doesn't warrant the absolutely atrocious performance.

It doesn't matter. If the 3060 is the most popular card for PC players, that is what they should have targeted. But as you said, the devs didn't seem to care about the PC. To be fair, consoles have it rough too. I am amazed that the game released like this. We were worried when all we say from the gameplay trailers were 30fps. I hope Capcom fires a few people up top. I hope they tell their shockholders to bugger off and I hope the team is at work right now working on a fix. I am personally getting complete system freezes about ever 1-2 hours on top of the awful performances. I will also mention the second zone, the desert zone, my frames seem to be better and I have YET to experience a freeze. So, there's that.

It's worth noting that the interlaced rendering means that it's only rendering half of the full resolution. DLSS will absolutely fare better than the shimmery look of Interlaced Rendering. I like that RE Engine supports it, but it's god awful that they lean into it here and require it to be on for the game to run at anything even close to reasonable. I was so exited for this game, too. It's quite disappointing. On a side note, Horizon Forbidden West and Dragon's Dogma 2 on launch day? You're killing it with these benchmarks.

Horizon Forbidden West: can run at 30fps on a Ryzen 3 1300x and GTX 1650 with still decent visuals and a bit of FSR. This game: drops from 60fps at low settings with a 7950x3d and a 3060 while looking like a game from 2017.

Getting old,whaaat...i just afforded to get a prebuilt a few months back so for me its NEW...way better then my Gtx1650 i5 9400f thats for sure(this was actually also ok to play games on n still is,not at high settings,but good enough to use infront of my tv and older titles for sure) So question is would 500 euro more have been a better buy to get another prebuilt that had rtx4060 i7 11700k(or might have been a i7 12700k) its 500 euro more so its a bit i think so i did go for the rtx3060 12gb,But have been a little curious if it would have been worth it at all and for this much more??

First off. There are some settings I won't mention like DLSS that isn't working properly and I get average 58fps outside of towns on high settings with FSR enabled on quality, Sometimes It goes up to around 80fps. The city is the most intensive where it can go as low as 30fps. This is a know issue with the game related to CPUs. Doesn't matter how strong your CPU is. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 pared with a Zotac RTX 3060 12gb. Game runs perfectly fine most of the time. Small towns drop around 5-8fps with rare drops of around 12 fps. City drops around 15fps with rare 28fps drops. Just play around with your settings until you get the right results. They should patch the city performance issues in a week or two. So we should at least get 10fps boost in cities. Not ideal, but that is just how it is.

Well, this is RE Engine. The engine made for small areas in buildings, not some wide open areas. That's why open areas look awful in RE7, RE3R and RE4R. That's why this game has awful fidelity

I think that 8GB cards are no longer the minimum vram is needed for gaming because of 2023, many games are horribly optimized and some lazy developers ported their console game into PC. Nowadays a minimum required vram is 12gb is the absolute minimum plus you might want to play on a 1440p monitor since 1080p is kinda obsolete because some cards don't even handle 1080p properly due to stutters and poor drivers?. Also the next thing is bus width is also played on a very important role for a GPU because higher bus width means better performance.

Of course it looks pixelated on 1080p low settings because the game changes the resolution scale to 50% not 100% you have to manually change it

Ive noticed the issues with antialiasing too: You either play with DLSS off and have a very oversharpened look with pixelated edges, or you use dlss, which at least for me, smoothes out the edges, but makes the water look terrible by ruining the reflections and shadows.

i think yeah the draw distance is the problem. I'm playing the first dragon's dogma atm and it has that same issue with shimmering shadows. But it when you go near them it stops shimmering.

Been loving this game so far, do wish i could get 60fps 100% of the time with a 3070ti, ive opted to cap at 30 and turn everything up to high with ray tracing and its fairly consistent, it doesnt dip below thankfully

You're incorrect about the ray tracing. I'ts not 'just' lighting. It's 'RTGI' - Ray Traced Global Illumination, which is utterly transformative. Seen also in 'Metro Exodus'. The fact that you think it's 'just more bloom', is due to the time of day. Sigh.

I don't think Nvidia undated their drivers for this game yet as of yet. But I bet AMD's 6700 plays this well with or without RT due to this being a consol port. Someone needs to test this while this game is in its broken state like this is, at least for Nvidia users only I bet.
