tip for 3:52, if you have it enabled where msi afterburner will apply the settings when the computer is started up: if you hold down the ctrl key it will not apply at startup, this was a safety feature implemented by them. You do this right after you login or if your PC has no password, right after windows boot screen. This Ctrl button only applies when your PC is being started up for the first time. I just upgraded from a 1060 SC 6GB to a 3070 FTW3 Ultra. I used Assassin's Creed Ancient Egypt Discovery Tour for benchmarking purposes. I play on 3440x1440p resolution. In 2020, I OC'd my 1060 and turned down/off the most intensive graphics settings and got a (yellow) "Stable" Frames Score of 5844, averaging 48 FPS with a 21ms/f GPU render time. Upon upgrading to my 3070, I turned all of the graphics settings to max. I got a (greenish yellow) "Very High" score of 8564, averaging 73 FPS with 14ms GPU render. Upon following this guide and pushing it to the limit, I managed to get a (bright green) "Very High" score of 9097 (over 9000!), averaging 78 FPS with a 13ms GPU render. I used a +60% core voltage, +170 core clock, and +1250(!!!) memory clock. I'm now comfortably sitting at 2085-2150 MHz GPU clock with a ridiculous 8250 MHz memory. I was astounded by how well the memory overclocked, sitting at a stable 8250 MHz. I managed to push it to +1400 memory before finding artifacts and bumping it back down to 1200 before settling on 1250. So glad I forked over the extra change and bought this card over the Founder's Edition. Anyone trying to claim the FE is better at OCing is out of their mind. Just look at the comparison on GPU Monkey and it isn’t even close. Thank you for the guide! Subscribed.

I've got a 3070 and in the past always used heaven benchmark but I've ran into problems with it with my 3070 . Basically it's not stable using heaven benchmark. For some reason the power limit resets after every reboot on my afterburner settings. The most important thing is Always go off your score. you can dial in higher numbers but the score might not be better. Your overclock might be stable with heaven but might not be with a game or another benchmark tool. I've found keeping my clocks under 2100 is better even though it will benchmark with higher than 2100. Basically the more programs and games you test with the overclock the better.

@baby3333 жыл бұрын
@@CrispSenpai It's best to not have OC when gaming, as it messes with your GPU and can even cause GPU Crashes or application/miner crashes. Now, I do keep OC on and play (while mining) if i am playing a small windowed Indie game, but when i am playing heavy games like Call of duty Warzone, I just stop the miner and have default OC turned on. There's no way around fixing the artifacts really, sometimes what's good for mining is just gonna do that for you for gaming :P and what's good for gaming might be bad for mining.. Sometimes you'll find games where you can play and not get that bad of artifacts, some games immediatly crash, and some get 0 artifacts, it depends on the game too :)

I dont't really understand. Boost clock of a non OC RTX 3070 is 1770mhz. How are you all running it on over 2000mhz?
@ij67083 жыл бұрын
The algorithm will boost the clock as long as there's enough power and temp headroom. Most proper cards will stay below the temp limit so power is the bottleneck. The OC adds onto the base clock not boost so if OC base is higher that non OC boost, it just becomes irrelevant

@DN10803 жыл бұрын
With stock settings you would be totally fine. But in this case, I think you would be best to work out what the systems default power draw is, to then see what sort of headroom you have. Depending on the board partner, the power limits can vary massively on these 3070's. As well as that, there can be quite a few other variables that will add to this figure. You can find online calculators that will help you predict this, but I honestly find the easiest way is to just measure it yourself! Amazon have reasonably priced power meters, that will show you the actual wattage from the wall. Then if you use Prime95 (Small FFT's) and Furmark together, this will give you an idea of the maximum power the system can draw. Once you find a figure, you can come to your own conclusion whether the power supply (PSU) is sufficient. Bear in mind that the efficiency of a PSU will vary depending on the power draw. Generally as you get towards the top end, the efficiency drops. Also the heat generated can negatively affect the lifespan of the unit. Because of this, many people like to keep the PSU usage between 50-60% of the rated capacity when the system is under load. For reference, my 5600X and Gigabyte 3070 Gaming OC at stock draws up to 420W with Prime95 and Furmark running together. Typical gaming workloads are about 70W lower than this figure. Good Luck!

A lot of these cards are not stable when you overclock the memory regardless if it seems to be stable for benchmarking or allows you to do ridiculous short term overclocks like +1000 offset. All 3070's are power starved. When you overclock the memory it starts pulling even more power which then causes the card to be less stable when hitting power limit.

What are your MSI settings? I did +125 core clock no memory boost no voltage and played a lot of battlefield 2042 and it was clocking no less then 2025 and stays at 2040 and returns there. But game has crashed a couple times (in like 10 hours maybe of playing) so I was thinking of going down to +100 or trying to do the +50 voltage. Not sure. But 2100? How?! My 10700k stays at 4.7 all core simply by putting windows in performance mode. I had overclocked it before but got tired and scared replicating some errors even at 4.8 and just decided to leave it defaulted like this as it can already draw up to 1.3v VROut in my bios default settings.

@dbd63933 жыл бұрын
@@privacyprivacy8206 thanks I didn't know you could put the exact numbers in msi I thought you just move the sliders up. I ended up doing the +50 voltage modifier and kept it at 125 exactly as shown in this video because when I set clock to +130 I saw no increase in FPS or clock rate, just heat. But now it seems stable like it hasn't crashed. But I get 2055 MHz max but it's good enough for me gave me some extra frames from the default boost.

Was looking for another good 3D app, kombustor kept getting flagged on my pc and it ended up draining some other apps too, I did push my stuff very hard, just going up 50 at a time and running for about 2-3 mins then pushing more, not sure if there's a standard way to do it, or if you should know before hand what core/mem clock numbers you should be hitting with the card, I have an evga 3070 lhr version.

@dantegaming36283 жыл бұрын
No it will no kill anything, all GPUS got the same TDP by series, 225w for 3070 for exemple. But alla of theses dont need this power, so they got an extra power hidden and they are not maxed because they just need to be all at the same frquencys.

So you juste max out her capacity. If you dont add more power to your overclock its just free fps more for free.

@tristanweide3 жыл бұрын
The power limit is dependent on the vbios. MSI doesn't allow an increase for the ventus models. I used to have a ventus 2060 and couldn't increase power limits either.

Probably because of higher temperatures. Try higher fan speed 60-80% and check clocks. Then set a fan curve for your desired noise level and see if it's a lot lower - if it's just few mhz then less noise is more preferable. It's all about that sweet spot.
@Neon-hv4xs2 жыл бұрын
when I do this on my 3070 the mhz stay at 1725 even when i add +125. why is this?

I have some crazy luck with silicone lottery. Got a 6700k that I ran at 4.8ghz, stock voltage, until recently when I dropped it to 4.7. And the 3070 I've got hits 2200mhz and 7600mhz in memory, again, in stock 100% power draw, and never goes above 64c with a customised fan curve in bios.

@@br00kly nice, to be honest I've reset mine back to factory then just set a more aggressive fan curve. I found it caused certain games to crash. I may look at undervolting it though, I'm seeing good results from that.

Do you have to flash vbios onto the 3070 to overclock? Also if there even a major performance gain from overclocking or is it just a 2-3% increase in frames?
@frostedlambs3 жыл бұрын
no and it depends what your using it for and how much you tune it, idk about frames in game but maybe %5 %10 more performance, %2 of 100frames is 2 more frames/ you might get 5 or 10 more frames if its running at 100frames normally, im guessing
@Heckinwhatonearth3 жыл бұрын
At 2200mhz core and 7600mhz mem I'm getting an almost 10% increase in frames on AVG in most games, and even more on a synthetic bench.
