Interesting to see 4070s 12GB VRAM make it obsolete already. Okay, obsolete might be a little too much, what I mean is that it is very unbalanced, since the raw perf and even rt perf enables playing in target resolution on maxed out settings without issues(in somewhat sensibly made and reasonably optimized titles that is), but the VRAM amount becomes the bottleneck already. Interesting, but sadly not unexpected.

Unfortunate but it's better than the cards that are not able to use the full ray tracing. 1440p High with med PT looks way better than the non full mode at Supreme. The non path traced mode uses ultra low resolutions and samples for texture roughness, shadows, reflections and post processing. The shadows and reflections without PT looks to be around 240p. And they are very unstable. Flickering and shimmering. Lighting and shadows being half resolution in common in almost all modern games. But this game they are 1/8th resolution. Maybe 1/4 res sometimes without PT.

On my 4070Ti super i got everything on high apart from like 2 things on medium ( volumetric fog or something and something else ) motion blur 0 chromatic aberration off and locked at 85 FPS..looks crispy as hell the frametime graph is flat and I've never seen it dip below 85 fps im enjoying the hell out this game

@@ahmedibrahim1820 No fix yet I'd strongly recommend setting texture pool size to high and then you should be fine on a 4080. Don't go any higher than that otherwise FG won't work and you will get very low fps on Ultra. You can max everything else out Full RT you can enable all that with a high texture pool size and use DLSS performance or balanced That should keep vram just over 15GB which is the safe zone still

Check out some of the interiors in Vatican to see the impact of the PT reflections, especially those full of marble floors/walls and lots of glass. The PT lighting should also be awesome in the Sistine Chapel!

Quick tip: If your GPU power draw falls a lot after enabling a setting(here, path tracing), it means that it's running out of Vram.

I had a thing today where after a cut scene I started getting a bunch of weird graphics glitches in the letterbox sections of the screen (I had it on cinematic.) I adjusted that setting thinking it had bugged and my game crashed. When I started the game again it was running at 12 fps (it was previously around 120,) and armoury crate refused to put the performance up. It took me about two hours to figure it out, after two reinstalls of armoury crate. It was the frame gen that had bugged out. I turned it off and put dlss to quality and it started running fine. Previously my GPU was running at 90%+ and now it's at around 50% and everything looks fine. Without frame gen I could put v-sync on and it got rid of tearing (obviously but it takes me time, I'm not too bright.) This is on a budget laptop with a 4070 with 8Gb of VRAM.

Remember that when you enable RT, increase resolution or any vram increaser setting, and then the power consumption lowers instantly and unexpectedly lower framerate happens, it is very likely that it has already run out of video memory. Also when you enable rt and has not run out of vram, power consumption goes up a little bit, it happens on my 3070 when playing cyberpunk, full raster consumes ~160w and full rt consumes ~180w both at 100% usage and under control video memory usage, vrey likely due to rt cores being used.

I wish they could break down Path-tracing in settings to specific environmental features or areas (say if I wanted exclude forests/dense foliage from being PTed, but have cities/indoors and generally less demanding areas PTed instead of having to change the setting and restart based on where I am in the game). That's generally been my problem with RT as well, though there you at least have up to 3 RT settings (global illum./reflections/shadows) that you can enable/disable independently).

You should check out a mod list for Skyrim called LORERIM. Incredible graphics and textures and even with a 4090 it can get some frame drops in city and heavy forest areas😅 game is absolutely beautiful though! Wish a lot more people on PC knew about it!

I have total different performances with my 4070 super...at native 1440p with df settings i can't mantain 60 fps in the jungle at the beginning. using textures pool sizing at high and df optimized settings. Drivers are up to date and the game also. It's possible that my i9 9900kf is tanking my fps like this at 1440p? I expect bottleneck at 1080p only...and the game has bad perf also in 4k dlss...

NVIDIA is really killing its own cards with such VRAM limitations. I still believe 4070 Ti Super isn't worth the price, as it is actually a downscaled 4080, so for everyone still wondering what to buy, the 4070 Super for 2K is still the better option, especially with the 5000 series around the corner. My 4080 laptop can do a little higher than 12gb ok. Around 12200gb with no issues. CPU temp in the 80’s and gpu in the 70’s. Can do full RT in 1440p but you have to tweak all of the settings to get it back down to 12200gb. Max fps is 50 and you need to lock it with Riva tuner.

This is a little misleading... that first area is massively more demanding than the rest of the game... that said with the same set up at 1080p I get 45-60fps with everything on Ultra (including textures) and full RT, DLSS Quality and no frame gen. The rest of the game I get consistent 80-90fps.

i use with my regular 4070 medium texture everything else on max out full path tracing dlss quality/ balance (balance last parte in the jungle) frame gen on and never go out of vram . medium texture is not terrible on high y go out of vram not always but happen. with 70 fps i never fell input lag (no gamepad)

hi i have 4070ti and yesterday everything was perfect, game was running buttery smoothi was usung about 11.6gb of ram, and today after launching the game with the same settings i noticed massive stutters every 3 seconds and Vram usage was not going higher than 11gb, after disabling FG or Dlss it goes back to normal but i lose like 30-40 frames. I genuinely do not see how you can tell the visual difference with DLSS enabled at 4k while in full motion. "Slightly softer" is just too vague, and I can't see it at all unless I stop & really look for differences. Also, you can play with Path Tracing on High & Textures on High if you go with DLSS Balanced & no frame gen. You'll still get above 60 fps.
