In the case of the added VRAM, the main benefit will be seen a a year or 2 in the future, as games become more demanding of the VRAM. Today, you typically do not see 12GB being a very limiting factor unless you are gaming above 1440p with ray tracing on, but today's, edge cases, will become tomorrow's norm. Many game engines will keep more data in the VRAM even if not being actively used, though many games will not attempt to unnecessarily allocate all available VRAM. The most modern example I can think of that will allocate a large amount of VRAM that largely remains idle much of the time, is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, where levels/ locations that contain multiple rifts, simply load those rifts as platforms under the main part of the map, thus instead of loading an entirely new level, a rift just sends the player down a certain distance and then the AI and physics becomes active, while the top level of the map freezes its AI and physics. In those cases, the game can allocate a decent amount of system RAM as shared video memory, without much of a performance hit, since it only needs to actively use that data when entering a rift, and swapping the data only takes a tiny fraction of a second on modern hardware, at PCIe 4.0 speeds in cases of cards with very little VRAM. While it will try to limit shared VRAM usage to around 6GB in the case of a 4GB card being used, when a card has a lot of VRAM, e.g., moving from a 16GB to a 24GB card, the game will store more data, though it will try to avoid using more than about 60% of the VRAM in those scenarios. There is a benefit to a game engine not trying to utilize all of the VRAM, even if for caching, and that is because if you try to allocate all, then VRAM content such as for your other displays, gets pushed to system memory, and now you encounter context switching overhead unnecessarily.

Why did you go with the zotac? Was it a sponsor or was it for the price. I was looking into the areo version and I thought this card might be worth a check out.

to buy a zotac or an asus tuf 4070ti super :/ is the asus 100 pound more expensive just due the name brand on the card?
@paulogumba56948 ай бұрын
yep, well known brands tend to be more expensive, like gigabyte aero RTX 4070 ti Super in Philippines (where I live), it's 150 pounds more than the Zotac, and to be honest, there's not much difference about the performance given that it's the same gpu, though they differ on the cooling and aesthetics.
@Mefrom_Here6 ай бұрын
They did upgrade the vram bus speed. You could add vram capacity all you want if it runs at the same speed it won’t make a difference most of the time. The 4070 ti has a 192 bit wide memory bus the 4070 ti super has a 256 bit wide memory bus I think that is the difference we are seeing the difference in vram processing speed not the added capacity

there is a way of modding the visuals and unlocking the fps for minecraft rtx you need to turn off vsync to get the max gpu usage if your not cpu limited and you can install different rtx packs and use the better rtx mod as well to change the raytracing presets.

The only ones who are complaining about this card, are the idiots who bought it last year when everyone knew this was launching, and now are left with an "end of production", 12gb graphics card and 5/10% performance less. Now, of course prices are still way too high, and unless you don't care about using DLSS 3 in the future, and some minor hiccups with drives and software, just go for AMD, way cheaper, 20gb VRAM for the same price.
