I just discovered your channel today and i'm enjoying your benchmarks of the 4080 laptop a lot. One suggestion i would make to you is to test the games at native resolution without dlss or frame gen in addition since the 4080 is already overkill in most titles at 1080p native. Also i dont know how possible it would be for you, but testing at 1440p as well would be a great addition.

Thanks, 1200p is about the same performance at 1080p, its like a 5% difference. My tv doesn't play well with 1200p or 1600p so i skip that. Some games like cyberpunk have engines where its easy to test with, but most games its a shit show. So i can't be bothered. 1440p could be interesting to test however, but UI problems become a thing in many games, and it looks worse upscaled to 4k on my tv. I will have to change resolutions of my tv through my stream pc which results in editing i rather stay away from that. The reason i pick 1080p is because its honestly the best solution for this laptop to play games on. U have plenty of performance, and all features available to you to struggle through unoptimized mess. There are more reasons then that, such as v-ram. Games these days require a lot of v-ram and frame gen requires even more ( 0,5gb at 1080p, 1,5gb at 1440p, 3gb at 4k ) and laptops are limited with v-ram budgets. As games are already starting to consume such as cyberpunk / ratched and clank above the 8gb of v-ram, 12gb pool will be fine for 1080p, but it becomes more a hassle at 1440p, and higher then that i would honestly not even opt for a 4080 laptop but a 4090 instead. 4k i would avoid at all cost if u plan to game on a laptop. So with all of this, i decided to stick with 1080p. As for DLSS. DLSS is the best filtering system i ever saw, it kills all shimmering which is the main problem with games. I will never turn it off and even avoid these games that do not have it as option that i buy. So turning it off is something i find pointless. But i could do that in newer video's just to see what it adds. Framegen i enable and disable because the native screen can give some issue's with framegen as it has no vrr so it can judder more which can be annoying to the naked eye. So it's interesting to see performance differences And also for people people that maybe want to upgrade from a 2000 series laptop or a older desktop PC, to see what the gains really are from the feature. Also i recorded video's back in the day that where extremely detailed, i mean every setting at every resolution and it costed me a ton of time to timestamp the video's. It's something i want to avoid now. This means that if u change a lot of settings and somebody just scrolls through the video, they think they see 1080p famegen + dlss qualoity performance, but reality its 1200p, no dlss, no framegen because they don't know what they are watching really. So i also want to avoid it. So when i shift through settings i do it quick and fast more then longer. So that's basically the ideology behind it. Maybe it will be good to have a video about what laptop to buy and what my experience is with gaming laptops because honestly i get a lot of questions even in personal messages about people asking me what's good to buy. Will do that next.

I 've just discovered this channel and i 'm not gonna lie...it's amazing content. Just one question, do u think that the display of this laptop is really ugly, according to other owners, or is it passable ? I mean you can actually play and enjoy graphics or totally not ? Can u describe me your opinion about that ? Thanx and I wish u all the best

Screen is by far the worst aspect of the laptop, if u can find another laptop with a better screen for the same price go for it. the reason i bought the laptop and probably other people is because its by far here the cheapest 4080 laptop ( 750 cheaper here then other ones, so for me its a no brainer for the way i use it ). and with a LG C2 i have here ( oled 120hz, gsync ) it's just great. The laptop screen itself holds me over in locations where i don't have access towards a good screen. However to talk about the screen, its basically the shittiest 144hz pc screen u can get. No vrr makes judder more visible ( vrr = gsync/freesync ), and ghosting is clearly there in the screen with movement so its a slow screen on ms. The colors are a big step back from other screens, but it's passable i would say for gaming. I come from oled, so screen is a huge downgrade from that, u have a shitty cheap 144hz pc screen u probably are fine with it, u come from a good quality led 1ms gsync screen, screen is shitty on the laptop. Before this laptop i had a 4060 144hz gsync screen, colors where far better, response was better but also a lot of ghosting, vrr was great to have on it tho even with ghosting. So not sure if ghosting is just a thing on laptop screens as they are flat and thin or if there are just better laptop screens on the market that are non oled as they only seem to arrive with 4090's and a leap in price while at it. Hope this helps.

Thank u so much, really helpful. I m considering buying this laptop in order to use it on an external 4k monitor. I will use laptop's display only for work's project or occasionally gaming far from home.

Nice laptop. I got the Aorus 17H with 4080 but a 1080p 360Hz screen. Looks like it should run very smoothly

what settings are you using? i am playing the same game at ultra and im getting nowhere near the performance you are, but that might be because im playing on ultra.
@gatygun Жыл бұрын
Pretty sure i am going over the settings at the start of the video. Its maxed out at 1080p. Maybe u play on higher resolutions. Also this is the first release state of the game, maybe patches later on decrease performance.

@@gatygun oh sorry, might have skipped over that part 😬 i am playing the newest version yeah and on a widescreen so that’ll probably be the issue haha. Loving the vids! You Dutch by any chance?

@@gatygun me as well! One more question haha, what profile are you using in the msi center? Silent, balanced, extreme performance or AI? And what abouts are your fan speeds? Talking generally, not specifically this game.
@gatygun Жыл бұрын
@@youkjonges8151 extreme performance for benchmarks in games, but if i use it normal i use the AI one. No clue what the fan speeds are, its loud tho, but i use headset with noise cancelling so it doesn't bother me.

Do you use some type of external cooling system?
@gatygun Жыл бұрын
Yea, its a cheap 30 buck cooling pad. My older benchmarks of the laptop doesn't have that one so temps are higher.
@NathanDrake_ Жыл бұрын
@@gatygun Oh, okay, that's what I thought, I have the same MSI model but with different specifications and when I play Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty my processor and graphics are at more than 80° all the time, even reaching 90. Of course with everything at the maximum in 1440p Path Tracing, thanks!
