"Shortage", they probably ordered small amount of wafers from tmsc and will gradually increase it in the future. They did that in the past to artificially elevate the prices and increase the demand. Since there is literally no competition they can afford to do this.

I think the vram amounts on the 50 series are at a sweet spot for price to future relevance. The 5070 might be good enough for a long time.

Yep, no shortage at all, they're playing the profit game. They have enough chips for AI to cover billions of $ in orders but only 233 5090s? LOL Only a fool would believe there's a shortage.

3070 gives 28 hash on Xelis, the card costs about 300 dollars. Even if you calculate that 3 cards of the 3070 level, the total cost will not be more than 900 dollars, and you can buy three cards for 800. What idiot will pay more than 3000 bucks for a card, the hash of which can be obtained for 800-900 dollars from other cards? And in terms of consumption on Xelis 3 * 3070 = 330-350 watts. And 5090 will consume under 500 watts.
