Yes i know my fans arent pulling air away and recirculating the hot air, where the fans are is a solid metal wall from the mining cabinet. ill have a new chassis to mount the fans infront of the GPUS to push cool air over them. The front door of the mining cabinet is kept open to the hot air is expelled into the open room to heat the room. Ample cool air is getting to the GPUS, they will be cooler once the fans are mounted infront dont worry, ill make an updated video once the server cabinet and new chassis'. Reason why its in a Navepoint Server cabinet is to consolidate the noise since iam in an apartment being shared with other people and i leave the door open to cool the living room/kitchen area. Fans at 80-90% are barely noticeable in that open area.

Thanks. I have the 8gb variant. I did this copper plate mod with kryonaut paste + the party in the back mod where I routed the gpu fan to the mobo using an adapter since it parasitically pulls 3w from the gpu otherwise. Saw on average an 8 degree improvement on idle 👍. I use it for 3D modeling.

oooo nice ill check out that fan mod, whats your ambient temperature? im sure you have it in a PC case and such since your 3D modeling
@ImDembe
@ImDembe Жыл бұрын
The easiest way is still get a bit thinner pads from like Gelid and new paste, a few degrees on the cores and memory will drop 10ish for like 5$ per card and very few things can go wrong doing it.

@@ClawGamingCG Good thing, it went downhill pretty fast earlier this year, i sold my RTX2070 for almost 500$ that i had since release and a couple of weeks later it was worth half.

I’d change the direction of the fans on your rig, they need to be pulling air away from the cards as you have blower fans not pushing air onto the cards
@ClawGamingCG
@ClawGamingCG 2 жыл бұрын
yea those chassis are only temporary, ill be switching them to a more modular case so i can direct the fans
@ClawGamingCG
@ClawGamingCG 2 жыл бұрын
I did it so it circulates the air in the server cabinet and flows some air over the back of the PCB.
@boriscrypto
@boriscrypto 2 жыл бұрын
@@ClawGamingCG but your blowing hot air back onto the card. the card exhausts out the IO plate, and those fans just push that hot air back towards the gpu.
@ClawGamingCG
@ClawGamingCG 2 жыл бұрын
@@boriscrypto yea i understand that but theres no space from the fans to the back of cabinet its a solid metal wall. itll be fixed once i get a proper mining chassis where i can put the fans in the front blowing cool air over and not recirculating back over the pcbs/backplates.

@@johnwilliams5064 is the power consumption reliable when you solder it on the back? what does it show on your hive/software
@johnwilliams5064
@johnwilliams5064 2 жыл бұрын
@@karstenweber7362 no it is not, you need to solder a 005 resistor on the heatsink side. That will give accurate power readings ~85W.
@justinorantes
@justinorantes 2 жыл бұрын
@@johnwilliams5064 to be clear, so are you saying to only replace the existing stock R005 shunt with a R020, or are you saying to piggyback the R020 on top of the stock R005? Also, are you saying to only mod the heatsink side, leaving the back alone? I would like to safely achieve the 50MH performance, but still retain accurate power consumption readings. Thanks in advance!

You don't need spread on memory chips. The actual chip is in center and a normal dot in center will cover all chip area.

What is the height of just the pcb itself, and would a slimmer cooler work? Looking to make the gpu around 13mm in height..

with the car laying down the card measures 167 mm in length, 69 mm in width. there has been cooler mods but since ive moved the rig into a basement the ambient temperature keeps the cards cool under 70c all year round. Theres also shunt mods and 3D printed custom coolers with other off the shelf fans.

Coolmygpu is sending aluminum pads now instead of copper because of shortage. Do you think you can get some measurements to let us get a custom cut online? Or maybe you can just put one into the scanner with a ruler to the side and we can create a template

@ClawGamingCG
@ClawGamingCG 2 жыл бұрын
thank you! they are from newegg, you can search INHANDA Mining Rig Frame and its like $50-70 for the chassis and instead of using screws i used a rivgun (rivet gun) to just securely rivet the frame together instead of using screws. Theyre pretty handy course you get what you pay for so there maybe sharp edges or slightly bent from shipping but a light tapping and heat gun worked it all out! haha
