It is incredible the amount of optimization they have done since then, I have a 2070 and at the same res, map, and settings I can get well above 100fps with occasional drops when loading new parts of a map. Also the frame drops that happen when going into water are practically non existent

@@mag3slay4 No, actually you are the one who's wrong here, Sonic Ether's new beta shaders use path tracing which is a subset of ray tracing, the way they work is also not really different, he just uses opengl compute shaders to run the path tracing algorithm where as RTX has dedicated hardware to run similar algorithms with most importantly a deep learning based denoiser

those 4 maps for each texture are quite common standard for any render pipeline that tries to to good volumetric and generally more realistic lighting for 10ish years (even without many good dynamic reflections), to a point, where they are expected in most unity assets. love how Seus dares to make custom code to compete with much bigger companies.

Because the standard is 60 pretty much. Only games capped at 30 are cinematic story-like games, you want 60 or more in any other games, competitive multiplayer you'll want 120+ easy.

I'm not rich, but my Duke RTX 2070 OC is certainly no slouch, but yeah, anybody could save up $500 for a GPU. If you'll pay that for a console that has games locked at low-medium settings and 30fps (60 max) then why not spend that much on a GPU to make sure your PC is better than any consoles?
