Pretty cool little blade. Would have been better if it was made of tougher rubber. Hey I bet you could make a metal one out of three sixteenths inch sheet metal exactly that same shape and it would be awesome for mowing and clearing. Just don't get it close to anything you don't want cut. If I had that rubber blade I would definitely make myself a steel version of it definitely.

the rubber blade is the newer version of the wire drum which is used for soft grass not very tall, so even the wire with metal insert cannot cut tree shoots, for woody grass the metal blade is used.

Maybe it wasn't desinged for cutting saplings, did it come with any warning to let you know. I wouldn't rate it bad if you used it for something it wasn't intended to do.

You can’t cut trees with a rubber blade just like you can’t churn butter with a toothpick.

Two safety issues. You fitted the thrust washer upside down, so it did not grip the blade properly. Second NEVER, EVER mess around clearing a clogged blade when the motor is running, unless you have some spare fingers to lose. Any slight increase in motor speed could cause the centrifugal clutch to engage and spin the blade. There are many different blades available: trimmer line; grass cut; brush cut; shredder; woodcut (circular saw) etc. It is best to use the correct blade for the job. Clearly the plastic blade was only intended for short/medium grass, as an alternative to trimmer line. Personally, I would never trust a plastic blade at 10,000 rpm. Many of these aftermarket trimmer heads have inherent dangers of parts detaching and flying off at high speed.

I wonder why the line cutter protector does provide any advantage. I have this only when using a line. When a blade is used the line cutter needs to go off. I guess.....

No it's a grass blade if you use it on grass it'll be fine the rubber is so that I does not get extremely damaged when you hit something hard
