Enjoyed the intro as it reminded me of a story my Dad told. This was in the late 50’s or early 60’s. A guy he worked with was bragging, and complaining, about the new rifle he had just bought in time for hunting season. He bragged about how accurate it was but he said it went through more ammo than he expected. So he and Dad went out to find out the problem. Yep, you got it. It was a semi-auto and every time he shot it, he ran the bolt manually. Thanks for the memory!!!

From the sound, it really sounds like it’s just the primer propelling the rubber bullet… like no powder burn at all, or an inconsistent amount of burn simply because the round is too light to cause good compression. Loved the lethal bit in slow mo that on 9mm round that had the stream of green zombie blood lol
@leonardoklausmann79722 жыл бұрын
Yes, indeed! if there's not enough mass then it won't have enuf compression and the gun won't cycle the next round. I have heard of protesters getting shot up by rubber bullets by police at much further distances but have lost eyeballs, fingers, ears, testicles, and suffered brain damage from head shots. Plus, never heard of the po-po having to suffer thru no auto cycling...maybe they don't make'em like they used to...?!

I agree that the power (or lack of) is heavily influenced by the loading of these rounds. But I feel like there may also be a chance that these rounds have a different terminal velocity compared to regular bullets due to them being much lighter weight. If YT still allows it I would be interested to see if rubber bullets correctly packed by Scott would have the same effect (then it is likely caused by terminal velocity) or if they’re just unevenly packed with less powder.
@baadlyrics87052 жыл бұрын
The terminal velocity isnt as important as the amount of powder.. what do you think the terminal velocity is of a normal round? About 70 mph .. and if you shoot it then it travels way way faster. The terminal velocity would matter if shot straight in the sky and then the way it travels down will be in the speed of the terminal velocity. But in this normal case the terminal velocity doesnt play any significant role, just as it doesnt with normal rounds, theres no problem to propel an object past its terminal velocity
@CC-mm3bl2 жыл бұрын
Baad Exactly, it just has a bad ballistic coefficient and slows down quick. Terminal vel has nothing to do with it.

@@jamesmcguinness1530an fmj or hollow point has a lead core they're much heavier than rubber and also more weight means more momentum to keep it moving fast ever driven a heavy car and tried to stop? This actually makes perfect sense, they would likely all be at a set amount of powder per round so when the size of casing increases it loses potential energy before even popping the rubber bullet out of the casing. I’d assume the largest round tested may be loaded hotter for the ability to shoot from a longer range with the rubber bullet.

Have you done paintball? See, those are not lethal as well but they will leave pretty decent mark on your body if you just use a shirt. Most of these bullets would do the same thing. You probably wouldn't be having a good day if you where shot a full magazine of these against your body.
@toaster_gmbh2 жыл бұрын
The interesting part about this would be what their energy is, not penetration but jouls. Chrono and weigh them, that would be the really interesting part. I could see how they might try to stay in the same energy range which is why the bigger ones might be slower and have less of a visible effect. If you are in law enforcement you don't need bigger caliber bullets with more energy depending on the caliber size or at least not that it would be simply upscaled with caliber size. I'd guess you'd want consistent energy and not bigger rounds with even more speed having way more energy. Afterall this is ammunition to be considered less lethal so standard gun logic of bigger caliber for more damage doesn't really apply. Yes, the result you see might be still strange but that's what I'd like the energy of each one for. Because on real humans all of those would probably leave about the same mark as they exert the same force so you don't want a bigger caliber that does more damage.

Love how you test all the less than lethal rounds but honestly if less than lethal is someone’s bag they should just carry a paintball gun 😂😂😂

At least then you can use pepperballs as well as the good old rubber practice balls, or you can do what some like to do and power mod it to shoot steel balls (or my personal favourite, sleeve the barrel and modify it to shoot smaller steel balls at a much higher velocity)

@@verakoo6187 he had a bad set for every single calibre he tries? When you have six different boxes of ammunition that all performed equally poorly you can't say its just a bad box, it's just bad ammunition overall at that point

It appears that those rounds are propelled by the primer only. That would explain why the heavier the bullet is, and the larger the case is, the less power they have.

Love seeing the improvements in video quality and entertainment value. Love it! Feel like you’d be better off using an airsoft gun. More consistent, still less lethal.
@trogdor87642 жыл бұрын
I mean I'm not sure what you expected, Scott. If the rounds are designed to cause pain but be non-lethal against people, well, people are all about the same level of bullet-resistant, so it makes sense that every round delivers approximately the same energy to the target. Therefore, as your bullet gets bigger, the powder charge must go down to compensate (it's probably more complicated than this given other factors like barrel length). Maybe you could argue that you might expect the rifle cartridges to be more powerful because they're designed to be used from further away?
@s.sradon9782 Жыл бұрын
a larger diameter is more area and less pressure for the same force, you can deliver more energy over a wider area and not cause penetration so as long as you don't rupture the organs with a pressure wave causing internal haemorrhage it's less than lethal. Seems like this ammo is just a scam to me.
@WJS774 Жыл бұрын
@@s.sradon9782 Yes, a larger diameter is more area, and the pistol rounds are all larger diameter than the rifle rounds. No idea why you think that makes it a scam though.

The less lethal ammo performed as advertised. They are to stun and hurt thereby discouraging the attacker. Your demo proves that. So a great video. Thanks for sharing. Be well and stay safe.

kinda difficult to really tell though when its a dummy and not an actual person (though, if it were an actual person, youtube would not be happy about it, at all, given their track record). I am actually genuinely curious to see how much pain those bullets actually cause, compared to other less than lethal options like a taser
@adabsurdum59052 жыл бұрын
@@fusionwing4208 Same. Seems like it would be better to keep real bullets in your gun and just pepper spray or a paintball gun (with frozen paintballs) on hand if you absolutely want to try deterring before you shoot. Or maybe just some baseballs or rocks lol

I think I've learned a lot in this video. Not only did the rubber bullets carry less inertia exiting the barrel, it also loses a lot of that inertia through the air. Also the bigger the caliber more inertia it loses due to the more drag it suffers through the air causing it to generate the least force to the target on impact. Because the composite don't possess as much mass at lead. Thank you.
@Beardpool181710 ай бұрын
Also way less powder in those rounds. If they used the same load as lead it would definitely be way more damage.

I laughed so hard through the pistol rounds... especially when a 44 mag still sounded like a cap-gun. 🤣🤣

Love the slowmo footage. Looks like the longer rubber bullets are tumbling and losing all their momentum from the wind resistance compared to lead which would hit like an arrow with that extra weight and maintaining barrel rotation. I'd say the pistol rubbers are doing more damage because the shape is closer to a ball bearing and whilst still probably arent barrelling, don't have that wind resistance. What are your thoughts? Awesome video as always, thanks.

Those rubber bullets reminded alot of paintballs. I wonder which hits harder. I would guess the rubber bullets carry more kinetic energy but the paintballs certainly travel further. Hmm do you know anyone with a ballistic chronograph? I'd love to see a comparison in fps. Anyways...awesome video as always!

@Kentucky Ballistics Just for your information, at 9:48, and correct me if I'm wrong, the two parts which bled were extremely thin compared to the forhead which is why it bled. The part of the side of the skull which bled is called the temple and is the thinnest compared to other parts. "Unlike other parts of the head where the bone provides an impressive layer of protection for the brain, the temple's bone is significantly thinner. This relative fragility offers less defense against external forces, making it susceptible to harm even from lesser impacts."

These non lethal rounds also sound not at least threatening . Just a small plop on every shot. Even some paintball rifles I've seen are louder. But the scene where Scott has complete annihilated the zombie Torso and ripped it completely open with the twelve gauge, I was reminded of the Scene from Pacific Rim, where they destroy the Gorilla Like Kaiju and Raleigh said: let's check the pulse, before they tore it apart even more. Like with Scott's Zombie: There is no Pulse. Greetings from Germany
