This reminds me of a kid back in the early 60s' . Building a balsa and paper plane under the light of an Aladdin kerosene lamp in a barn while waiting for a mare to have her foal . She had a perfect foal and it took me another week to finish that plane . Thanks for the memories my friend .

Truly an 'Oldie but a goodie' ... nice flight. Glad you escaped the soybeans ... those are really thick at this time of year. At least you'd have had a chance at spotting it with those bright colors on it. Thanks for sharing the memories ...

Thx, Bill. I thought she was in the beans for sure. Wasn't looking forward to walking thru the thick stuff, so I was indeed very lucky.

Yeah yeah yeah. Your build skills are awesome. It's your prop building skills that blow me away. Truly amazing. I can't risk free flight where I live. Way to many trees, every square yard. Watching your builds fly are like medication soothing an irritation. But it's the prop builds.

Propellers...I Always say it is a chapter apart in the building process. And when someone makes his own propeller so nice like this, you are sure the airplane will be great as well . 👏👏👏

Great build ,flight, and prop carving. When they fly that well you need a dt😀, preferably a radio dt, and a tracker, preferably a gps tracker. Or you could just build another when it flies away. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Again, is too cool Thomas! I have my gollywock about 1/3 done. Is a 13inch prop FAC legal on an 32 inch ws model?
@maxfliart
@maxfliart 4 жыл бұрын
Thx. Yes, the designer used a number of different sized props on the original Gollywock, so unusual as that may appear, yes, it's legal.

Thanks for the info, my 1940 plan from Flite Tech shows only 12" prop. Lol there were probably hundreds of redrawn plans of this great old timer.

Is there a difference between the 1939 & 1941 Gollywock Plans? The video is titled 1939, but the video show plans for the 1941 version.
@maxfliart
@maxfliart Жыл бұрын
Thx for pointing that out, Paul. This indeed is the 1941 plan, with the fins on the stab, while the 1939 plan has a sheeted rudder and rounded stab tips. I've made the correction, and included the link on Outerzone for the 1939 version. I couldn't find a free download for the '41.

@@maxfliart Thanks for the reply. After I sent you this question yesterday, I did see that you addressed this question already on another video and that the 1941 plan you used is offered for a nominal fee at NFFS plan store. I have only built a few commercial kits before and thought the Gollywock you be a good choice for my first scratch-build. After looking at the thumbnail version of 1941 Gollywock plan on the NFFS site I don't see the rib patterns for the ribs near the ends of the wing tips. Is this just something you need to shape and fit yourself? See Plan: freeflight.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/P-260-GollywockPostWar.jpg

@@maxfliart Thanks... I ended buying a set of plans from the NFFS site. I have another question if it's not too much trouble. Does you model have DT at the Rudder & Stab? if it does is there any way I can find out how to construct this?
@maxfliart
@maxfliart Жыл бұрын
@@paulgraf1200 Hi Paul. I wrote an article on DTs, which shows a number of ways to make them. For the Gollywock, it's all about creating a hinge at the center of the stab's leading edge. I've added the link to the article above in the description. There's also a link for a source that sells reliable DTs. I found the Badge classic to be reliable. He currently is not selling there Button DTs.
