So, so many new bands and artists and little gems hidden in corners being shown to me which I would have never found on my own in this lifetime. Brings back a feeling of 2016-2017- era for me. Maybe even 2018. Being on drugs, rainy days, no place in life, no place to go. But I had friends, and we had music. We would play in the garage, walk around town and sing or play guitar. Skate over to our other buddies house so we could use the drums. Pizza was still 5 from little ceasars, and gas was still $2.08. Felt more simple, and wild.

This sounds like the type of stuff I used to play on guitar, many many years ago. Seems like more than a lifetime now. My dad gifted my a beginners guitar set for my 17th birthday (iirc - some time around then, circa 2004?) A Fender Squier and a 20W Crate amp with distortion and in-line reverb... To this day I haven't found an amp that handles reverb the same way. With the reverb turned off you could still turn the knob and produce a naked input sound or a touch of dry reverb that really allowed you to become truly immersed in the sound. I started playing, having no idea at all what I was doing. No lessons. I just watched DVDs of musicians I wanted to emulate. Studying their finger placement closely. Something I did at concerts too. Then I would pop on songs I wanted to be able to play and tried to match the sound from the song on guitar. Went on like that fir 2-3 years. Everyone told me it sounded really good, despite my general cluelessness. I would break strings all the time trying to tune up because I'd use the 5th fret trick. Not using the low E as a base, so my tuning was really all over the place and highly innacurrate. After that I decided to finally invest in traditional methods. Learned how to tune properly. Studied basic chords and made a little jingle going from A to G to memorize them. Later delved into minor and flat chords. Then learned how to play (not all complete or by memory) 130+ songs over the course of the next 10 years or so. Learning a few more advanced chords (7 chords and such, which are some if my favorites to experiment with), how to read chord sheets and tab, as well as being able to write my own with templates used in a word processor on PC or my Android phone. Which, I think is a very crtical skill to have in your musician's 'toolbox' in lieu of writing your own music. Very rewarding too! I learned haphazardly by ear, then re-learned everything I thought I new from scratch lol. It worked out pretty well I think. Stopped playimg guitar a few years back, as I got too depressed to invest in it any longer. While my dad got sick, refused to seek treatment, he and my mom fought tooth and nail again like they did in my teenage years (which, then, was something that stoked the fire of my passion for creating music). Only this time I was just too tired and sad. My hope was spiraling down the drain. Living in near poverty conditions most of my life, dealing with the madness of alcoholism from both my mom and dad and others around me. Eventually he passed. And when he did he suffered and went down hard. 30 days in the hole. "The hole" being the hospital. He lost his battle with alcoholism (not that he ever fought very hard against it) and several other illnesses which were never quite identified or clearly recognized the day before Christmas a few years ago. I stopped playing a few years before that happened. With me picking up the guitar maybe once every few months around that time. Trimmed my nails a week ago the way I used to for playing guitar with my thumb and two fingers, but I have yet to pick it up again. Anyways... Long rant. Love the sound though! Brings back some memories for me of playing in my buddy's cramped breezeway or in his garage, sometimes on the street in my younger days. Not that I'm old yet... But I suppose I'm getting there. Thanks for sharing your work!
