The TPU one with plastic, glossy finishing outside the colour wears off after a while due to your palm sweat. In the end it makes the case look eroded especially at the corners and the sides. Now I'm looking around for those hard or soft matte/rubberised types because the colours from the glossy ones will drop after some time. Nevertheless, this is an useful video because I've seen TPU on Aliexpress but don't know what it is.

it is very frustrating that every seller on Amazon uses all 3 in their description! I've been trying to find a SILICONE case but they're all hard plastic/gel! Very annoying!

I like the rubberized plastic because it isn't likely to slip at all, and even the cheapest ones hold up really well. However, they look terrible once blemishes appear, and starts to peel. I don't know if the one I bought had an outdated manufacturing process, because the majority of my older electronics used soft touch or had rubberized accessories that lasted for years. Silicon is remarkable for a reason, it's closer to not interfering with your human-skin ergonomics, and makes a great cushion for harder plastic shells. I used to own Otterbox cases since owning the 3GS, however their silicon jackets have irritated my palms and fingers after 2-3 years of use, unfortunately Otterbox has let me down with their recent additions; they just do not feel as sturdy as the ones I've used for the Galaxy S3 and said iPhone 3GS. Maybe I've just outgrown silicon. TPU I've used on various MP3 players and older basic phones like my old Samsung Propel. They never started peeling or tearing after prolonged use, I plan on getting a few TPU jackets for my current devices. Doesn't take as much shock but the phone doesn't shift around after being pulled out of my pocket. (Just my preferences, don't shoot the messenger)

TPU is best , its middle between hard case and silicon . hard case can be broke by dropping on the floor , the silicone will bent if u keep flexing it . Tpu wont broke and its much harder to be bent

I actually don’t like my TPU case. I don’t know about protection but as far as how it handles I don’t care for it. It is a little slippery on soft surfaces so slides off my lap and bed too easily. It also feels dirty to me all the time. Like it picks up grease and stuff from my fingers way more than the regular phone without a case did. But at least it’s easy to clean off.

I'd rather have a TPL case break if it meant it was absorbing the shock that would be transmitted. The number of times that you'd be taking a silicone case off your phone and how much you'd stretch it when it's off wouldn't be enough to stretch it out of shape.

TPU cases are not very good if you want your phone to look good as new as it looked when you bought it , as it's sorta hard material , it'll start scratching the back and sides of the phone, Iv had many bad experience with TPU cases making my phone like if rubbed it against the ground If you want your phone too look good as new I would recommend something that has two layers , like the icipio dual pro, which had hard plastic on the outside and a soft material that will protect your phone.

I find it SO difficult to find silicone cases. They are always harder and not as bendable and more slippery ... it's so annoying. I have an old silicone case that has never ever slipped from my hand or any surface and it folds easily. I want that material or all my cases.

All the way for TPU. But It will get yellowish after times of usage, it will got torn apart if always remove the case. Silicone is a dust magnet. Rubberized could be easily break by forced.

The only thing TPU is for is that it's cheaper to make and there's more profit. Imagine dropping a steel ball onto a sheet of glass under a sheet of each of these and there is no doubt which is better at absorbing the shock. That's why silicone is used for that in so many ways inside machines etc.

I am looking everywhere for this info and can't find it. My Silicon case melted in the Florida sun and turned into a soft misshapen piece of trash otter brand from the metro pcs store. I tried a cheap plastic case from China it broke in a few months. How does TPU stand up to heat, does it get all wavy and worthless after being exposed to 120 temperatures.

@@updownstate, fair question. You have to be willing to shop longer and spend more. An option made in Taiwan or somewhere for a little more is a much better choice. Though buying from your own country is best.
