I think the Sinfonia Sacra for me gets more beautiful every time I listen to it. Of course it has its weaknesses but it's well written and everything written for choir (especially the sequences at the end of the three parts) is superb. Additionally, his use of canons in that piece is somehow quite wonderful.

Talk about timely! I'm listening to Rubbra's 5th and 6th symphonies today while exercising and thinking to myself: "I wonder why Dave hasn't done a talk on Rubbra...to my ears, his music is extraordinarily distinctive, beautiful, and worthy of advocacy...then I visit my favorite channel (as I do daily) and low and behold!

In an NBC Symphony radio announcement in 1939, Gene Hamilton pronounced it with the long U. I love the 7th and was lucky enough to find a bargain score of it.
