Thanks again. What a fantastic analysis! You are right, the players are still not used to the system. Lots of confusion and misunderstanding at the moment. A number of players don't seem to fit the system. Bruno is redundant cos #10 is not needed. And most of the players don't have the fitness and mentality.

My friend, very good analysis from you! I've noticed that Amorim's style of Football demands energy, intensity and tactical discipline. It's going to take time but I believe United will drastically improve in a short while. Some players like Casemiro, Erikson and Evans have past their prime and can't fit into this very interesting system of Ruben Amorim. I also noticed that positional awareness is very key to the success of this system. I saw the game against Everton and I was impressed! Even the game against Ipswich was quite intriguing because I could see United trying to play with a "distinct identity". By the time INEOS replaces spent forces like Casemiro, Erikson and Evans with younger, vibrant, intelligent players that inculcates intensity into their game, Manchester United will become a dangerous team to play against. Liverpool are presently the best team in the EPL majorly due to their aggressive press and high intensity style of Football. Once again, well-done my friend.👍🏻🙂

United were never a defending team Our foundation has been Attacking, We got away scoring more goals But I’m sure we will get better. And also, it was that aggressiveness in attack that got us Garnacho goal, where Hojlund pressed the keeper against Bodo. But hey, you always spot on with your analysis and providing us with all grey/black areas. Thanks.🙏

A lot of our defensive errors are common sense, I question how these players made it to the pinnacle of professional football. The players that can do the job don't have the legs but they play in a team that struggles (though improving) to complete 5 passes. This means the leggy players have to run more. The cycle continues with players opting fot the path of least intensity. At this point it's self harm. You'd think an unfit team would prioritise possession over transitional play. Erik has blood on his hands. Great vid as always, I learn so much. Before Eth I had no clue about tactics - its a wonderful world. I used to be an old school player - don't let anyone past by any means necessary, keep it clean and look for the forward pass.
@PaddyKish254Ай бұрын
Malacia and Martinez kinda changed roles during the press...because the Bodo players made outside and dropping runs. Aggravated by Bruno's indecisive pressing on that instance.

I think a lot of the times, man united players disappoint players who make runs and are expecting clear passes from their fellow players. It kills the creation of chances, and does not encourage players to make runs. All players should be able to make clear cut passes, whether over the top or down.

Cant wait for you to review everton. The pressing isn't great but I think that's due to fitness. Ruben is pragmatic enough to realise when to deploy a midblock.
@UnitedmatchtalkАй бұрын
Let’s revisit the analysis. Ruben Amorim’s system is built around tactical flexibility, with a focus on pressing and positional awareness. The central back plays a critical role by stepping up to press the attacking midfielder when needed. The two central midfielders push high to support the press, while the wingbacks rotate their roles-one pushes forward to press while the other stays back to maintain balance. When the ball shifts to the opposite side of the pitch, the wingbacks switch responsibilities, creating a dynamic 4-4-2 shape on one side of the field to force the opposition into playing long balls. I’ve been studying Ruben Amorim’s tactics closely, and while the approach is promising, it requires time for the players to master. If the opposition manages to bypass the press, Manchester United transitions into a compact 5-4-1 defensive shape. This is where his 3-4-2-1 system shines: the pressing structure depends heavily on the left or right center-back pushing high based on where the opposition builds play. For instance, if the attack comes from the right, the right center-back steps up to press, while the wingback and the two central midfielders push high to close down space. The same happens on the left. It’s almost a man-to-man pressing system in the attacking phase, with the front three, midfielders, and wingbacks involved. The advantage of this system is that it allows the center-backs and wingbacks to join the press, creating intense pressure on the opposition. However, the players are still adapting. Ruben Amorim himself mentioned in his first interview that the squad was 'overthinking' the instructions. With time and repetition, these movements will become second nature. Manchester United is only two match into learning this system, so it’s premature to criticize the defense. They’re still adjusting to Amorim’s ideas, and with more practice, the team will look more cohesive. This isn’t like Ten Hag’s era, where large gaps between the defense and attack left us exposed in transition. Ruben Amorim’s approach is designed to close those gaps while maintaining a high press. I always enjoy your videos, but I believe your assessment missed some of these nuances. Once the team fully integrates Amorim’s philosophy, I’m confident we’ll see significant improvements

Maybe I am too optimistic, but I believe Amorim is actually identifying problems and knows how to fix them. He actually made positive tactical changes mid-game which is somethign we have not seen in years.
@edwardopoku5421Ай бұрын
So I think the Malacia/ Martinez bit is actually pretty simple. They switch positions in that moment. Malacia would have been the one to press the dude but he took Martinez’s spot in the back 3. So same shape but personnel changed. Same way Dalot was IF a lot when he came on and Garnacho was hugging the touchline more a la WB. Unfortunate goal to concede (I agree Bruno was lost and that’s probably the main issue here) but if the hadn’t switched, I expect Martinez to have dealt with the threat in a way Malacia couldn’t then.

For the first time..uve got it wrong... Amorims defense tactics differ depending on the oppon3nt..he uses both high press and low block(drop back) When playing big teams with good paasing ability, his team sits back in its own half forming a 541 or 442 shape.. But when playing small teams,they use high press..where the right centre back and left centre back are required to press very high to cover the spaces left in midfield...thats why even mazraoui was pressing high thats when he stole the ball that he later crossed and assisted Hojlund.. CONCLUSION: Martinez positions was instructed by the coach himself.....its the same reason Evans was substituted in ipswich game coz he could not effectively press aggressively high up the pitch and it left mutchinson of ipswich to recieve the ball freely and turn towards United goal Besides @2:35 it was a 3 v 2,united with 3 defenders against 2...those three players had to do enough to prevent a goal..not requiring a fourth defender when playing Bodo...almost all big teams when they are being attacked through a counter attack,defend with 3 players..go watch City,pool,arsenal,bayern,barcelona etc....United players should do better,the tactics were right.

Bring back Alvara Fernandez, Kambwala, Garner, Pereira, Gomes, Then we can seriously challenge for league & champions league Next season Next season To Get Rid: Onana, Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Eriksen, Bruno, Malacia, Dalot & Antony in next window! Honestly, I'm sick of the whole aggressive man-for-man high press stuff. Just sit back in a compact 4-4-2 or 4-1-4-1 mid-bloc then close down when they cross the halfway line or enter the middle 3rd and play it out to the flanks.

I am not letting Malacia off that easy. It is easy to jump on the excuse about him being out for 2 years but what we have to remember for most of those 2 years he would have been working on fitness and speed running in straight lines which is exactly the scenario he go beat so easily against them so he should have at the very least been able to compete ESPECIALLY as he had a huge head start on the winger and was way ahead of him but still got spun like a typhoon went past him. This could very well be his ceiling in pace after the injury.
