This is Paul Da Vinci singing, please give him credit. The Rubettes were the first Milli Vanilli act where the lead vocals were actually sung by someone else.

There were 2 more such incidents that year. 1. Beach Baby by a band named First Class, with lead vocal actually by Tony Borrows, who had never appeared on stage with that song. 2. The Bump by a band named Kenny, with all lead- and backing vocals actually sung by Barry Palmer, who was in the 80s also leadsinger for Mike Oldfield.

I am a big fan of Paul Da Vinci and he deserves credit of course but they were not the first Milli Vanilli act and I dont know why you say that. This is the only song mimed and this was done by accident. The demo of Paul Da Vinci was accidentally released and it is not Alan or any of the band members faults, it is the producers who released it. Milli Vanilli did their miming deliberately and so you must stop calling the Rubettes that. It is news that is over 40 years old and I know that Paul Da Vinci is very upset and I dont blame him but it is time to let go now. Most people who watch these videos already know anyway and so there is no need to keep going on about it. I am not being rude and I respect your opinion, but I am sick of seeing messages saying news that everyone has already heard over and over again. Please stop. I know you are not the only one who is sending these messages but it just ruins it for everyone who wants to listen to Sugar Baby Love. If this is such a problem, Alan and the Rubettes recorded a version with Alan on the lead vocals in December 1974 and you can view it still by searching TOTP christmas 1974. Please stop with the negative comments as all we want to do is listen to music and be happy and I am sure that there are many people on my side. Thanks.

@@user-gj5ot3vb1t All Alan has to do is admit it which he never has. And why didn't he re-record it? Answer: The band and record company was rakiing in millions using DaVinci's voice. Re-cording it with Alan's voice would have been a financial disaster. But the lax laws in the UK allowed it and made it impossible for Paul to get what was owed to him. Finally, in 85, DaVinci was vindicated and he received something and so he recorded SBL again and revealed how he was the only singer on the record. The actual singer on Tonight is still a mystery. But his falsetto is still credited to Alan who CANNOT sing falsetto. Alan's miming Tops also. Rules or no rules he has never sung SBL except 44 years later when he could use his age as an excuse for the sorry voice he's always had.

@@Deadlyhallow Maybe they didn't want to front a band. Ron Dante sang vocals for the Archie's, Cuff Links, Ohio Express, and lots of other studio created bands but never fronted any of them. When the bands "performed" , a front man mimed Dante's vocals. But, this was Dante's choice and he received royalties.

I haven't watched the entire video but i bet that drummer would start lip syncing when the "People, here my advise..." goes. That same lame move he does on every rubettes video i saw.
